I remember watching this and enjoying it. I also remember it was mostly killed by the critics. While nobody would mistake it for a classic it was certainly good and entertaining. But now I think I know why it may have been poorly received- Lots of uncomfortable truths about the education establishment. And therefore the establishment.
@chrisstory5632 жыл бұрын
it does shed some light how the whole education system back then and today have gone to crap. it the unions. the teachers unions use to with good intention served it purpose but unfortunately it lost it ways and purpose due to being unchecked with too many bad apples corrupting the system.

When I first saw this I wondered how they managed to find one escaped mental patient among all those other crazy people. But than I realized, it was caused he cared about teaching them history.
@sha112354 жыл бұрын
He didn't escape. Herbert was an outpatient, meaning that he didn't live in the mental facility, but had sessions there. He had answered that phone in Stuart Van Ark's apt. when it rang and Mrs. Wenzel told him about coming into substitute one of the history classes and Herbert agreed to it because he thought it would be interesting. I think what happened was Herbert didn't show up for an appt. and they checked where he was and found out the error.

I was like Ralph Macchio's character in Teachers when I was in high school. Only I acted out anger through vandalism--if my folks or a kid at school or some teacher yelled at me I'd go out at night and do bad things. Even now ( I am 55 ) I have been known to engage in such behavior.
