It's hard to say how much should be charged if anything. Unless you can prove the driver overloaded the trailer or drove recklessly over bumps, tracks, etc. it sounds like it's just part of normal wear and tear when you operate a trailer business. It could have been weakend previously and the person drew the short straw and had it break on them as well.

The real killers of those reel up extension cords is the brushes. I don't pull the cord when it's under load to help. Also follow the amp rating. I have fixed my melted brush holders a few times. But I think they are worth it. Also thanks for not sell us trash for money.
