Would a reverse needle work for the centre?
@WoollyDoodles

It probably will. I've never used the reverse needle in needle felt painting, but it should give you some form of texture. Time to experiment. :-D

If you happen to have a Cricut cutting machine, it can draw a pattern on the felt with the washable pen that they sell.

This is great information from your experience! I sell locks that I dye but I'm far from an expert and I like your explanations and may look into some other sheep locks just from your video. I use them myself for wet felting mostly. Thank you!

Using that piece of felt, is it one you get at craft stores like joanne's? I was trying to see and they are not wool. Where do you buy your pieces?
@WoollyDoodles
@WoollyDoodles 6 ай бұрын
I always use 100% wool felt sheets. If you want to experiment and play, you can use the acrylic sheets like they sell at JoAnne's Fabrics or Michaels, they will work. I buy my 100% wool sheets from a supplier in Canada, Fibrecraft.ca, who does ship to the U.S. And note, they are NOT pre-felted wool but wool felt sheets 1.2mm.

Hi 😊I have recently found your videos by browsing KZbin. I have been needle felting a while now, here in the UK and I have enjoyed your instruction very much Thankyou. Your instructions seem to be for very new beginners and I was wondering do you have plans for more advanced projects. I admire some of the creations in the background, especially the owl 🤗. Thank you again for taking time to teach us xx🌻💕

Hello! Thank you for your kind words. So far the set of videos I have on my channel are intended for beginners. I have plans to start recording shorter videos with techniques so people can bring their projects to the next level. I'm researching some other ideas too. I do teach online workshops (on break for the summer) and will be adding some intermediate workshops as well. So lots to come. :-)

How should I store my wool roving. I have a lot of colors
@WoollyDoodles
@WoollyDoodles 8 ай бұрын
Not an easy answer, but I'll do my best. I store my wool in plastic zip bags, BUT there are people who say it's bad to do this. The reason is wool contains a bit of moisture, so if sealed in a bag and then heated and cooled over and over, it will felt the wool. I store my wool in bags that are in open bins in a closet, away from heat and the sun, and I haven't had a felting problem. So my best recommendation is that if you store in plastic bags, to leave the bag unsealed. And make sure to keep the wool away from a heat source. I hope this helps.

I love your videos- you are a very good teacher! I know you were not finished but how do decrease the appearance of the holes?
@WoollyDoodles
@WoollyDoodles Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the lovely compliment. I usually scratch the holes with my fingernail to hide them. But if you have larger holes, I would recommend using a finer gauge needle (40 triangle or 40 star) and checking to make sure the wool is connecting to your felt sheet and not loosely hanging on to it. Send me a direct message if you want to send me a photo and I can better help you.

Hi I am so happy to see this video, I am just starting felting, I am not getting on very well with the animals. I was thinking landscapes or free felting, may be better for me. So this could not have come at a better time for me. This is my assignment for tomorrow. My biggest worry is which type and size needles to use, difficult for beginners. Hope this is the first of many. 😍

I'm glad I could help. For animals, I recommend pencil sketching the ones you want to felt. It will help you get a great feel for what they look like. If you can sketch them in-person, even better. There will be more videos in the future!

Hi ma'am what kind of felt sheet did you use? In my area they have 2 kinds of felt sheet the hard felt sheet and the soft felt sheet, what felt sheet did i use? Thanks 🤗
@WoollyDoodles
@WoollyDoodles Жыл бұрын
Hello - I use a 1.2mm thick 100% wool felt sheet. I'm not sure what you mean by hard & soft, but if I were to guess, you could be talking about a pre-felt sheet that is partially felted and a firmer felt sheet, similar to acrylic felt sheets. I don't use pre-felt for needle felting. It's too squishy for me. But it's great for a base when wet felting. I hope this helps.

Thankyou, do you always use felt for the backing of your picture?
@WoollyDoodles
@WoollyDoodles Жыл бұрын
Hi Denise - Yes I do. I always use 100% wool felt sheets. I know other fiber artists use other materials as the backing for their felt paintings, but I find felt works the best for me. You can try the acrylic felt sheets, but I find they don't hold the felted wool as well as the wool sheets. I recommend experimenting to find what you like best. If you use a material other then wool, make sure to have a felt sheet behind the material if your wool doesn't stick into the material. Happy felting.
