Thanks for creating this video and file. This "simple" geometry has some "unexplained" traps when creating fillets and chamfers. Question. How did you know to use the "special" chamfer option [face to face] . I tried the regular chamfer option with same size, but it Failed when creating the fillet. Furthermore, I had some Fillet fails when simple fillet @ 5.00, fillet parameters[Symmetric, 5.00, Profile=Circular)" I found the solution if I changed, either: a.) R=4.99 b.) Fillet Parameter > Profile = Curvature Continuous

Thank you so much for your comment! 😊 I'm really glad you found the video helpful. I'll definitely give your solutions a try and explore the differences between the chamfer options and fillet parameters you faced. stay tuned!

In my case, the regular angle-distance chamfer worked. The face-to-face chamfer is better for evenly distributing chamfers on curved faces, especially when both faces are curved. Try it on a cylinder (50mm diameter, over 50mm long) with a wavy top. Apply both simple and face-to-face chamfers to compare the difference!. Then, try adding the same radius fillet to one half of the cylinder

Great example.Thx. A few questions and comments: 1.) Why did you use angle 140° for the v-cut? Is there a geometry rule or just random? 2.) The edge blending process is quite tricky: a.) It failed using surface lofting b.) Worked with boundary surface, but resulted in a "pinched" corner condition. c.) Finally, worked using Filled Surface(my last resort) 3.) The 3 way fillet "merging" is a bit rough where the 2mm fillet meets the 4mm fillet inside the ring. Any suggestions to further trim/fill to make a smooth transition. I have kinda "forgotten" all those blend tricks.

Doesn’t seem like Pro way to make it. Practical terms you gotta be very fast. Depending on the dimension available you could have created a block and added a cut extrudes on both sides.

Je trouve que cette méthode est bien compliquée pour rien. J'aurai fait un bloc rectangulaire puis ensuite utilisé la fonction enlèvement de matière sur une face et ensuite sur l'autre face.

You really have no idea about this program, something that can be done in 3 features ( boss extrude, cut extrude and fillet). Have you ever seen a complicated model?

Couldn't this be done faster using two unmerged extrudes, then intersecting the common volume, then adding fillets?this could have taken nearly half the time of the vid. Still nice work.

I dont understand why You Merge chamfers with fillets. Do You know You can do fillets and chamfers in only one operation?
@AnanthakumarBalakrishnan Жыл бұрын
Good job but some small mistake is there! Try to reduce the commands for effective editing. And you don't need to use loft here just extrude cut is enough . But you know this can be also an another way !
@Simplecaddesign Жыл бұрын
Yeah, this can be done in various ways beyond just the extrude cut feature, as you mentioned. Thanks

When you applied the last fillet, was that reflected in the internal surfaces?
@Simplecaddesign Жыл бұрын
Its just happens in preview of fillet , in this i selected the both inner and outer edges with a radius of 40mm
@Movieman1965 Жыл бұрын
Normally, you fillet the knitted surface first, then thicken. If it causes errors during thicken, then it can be filleted after. But then you need to check the wall thickness around those radius.
