What are the checkpoints on the road for? We do not have a single one in Germany. No toll stations, no police station, no lizense plate check, no face recognition, no automated searching for bad guys just to say.

It's toll station.

@@geeklogic I do not agree. Even in Germany bridges with transponder readers have been installed (regarding commercial users), but of course these Maut-Brücken could be used for the formentioned purposes easily, if there is the interest to do so. I personally argue, the PRC authories have a very strong interest and they do so. surveilance, tracking, suppressing poeple. YOU can not convince me the other way. Sorry.
@geeklogicКүн бұрын
@@thomasw2509 I don't want to convince you, but it is just a simple toll station. You have a stereotype about China. Now China has a 240-hour visa-free policy. Come to China and see the facts with your own eyes. Don't believe what the media says.

This is astonishingly high-effort content, well done! Thanks for your insights on the historical development of Chinese computers. I'm especially glad (and impressed) that you decided to make your personal model of the computer fully functional rather than just aesthetic.

I saw this recommended and didn’t click first time, but when I did click last night, I sat transfixed with joy & learning a new world of brave innovation & determination that I’d never heard of! This whole project & film moved me deeply. Initially I thought it was an important guided history lesson. Then when I see the skilled hand crafts making a beautiful replica model, I think “ok, this is nice craft skill and I’ve learned important history”. But then … little did I realise the magic yet to come! 😊❤ The 103 gave birth to something beautiful that not only blessed the Chinese people, but now blesses the world with Chinese technology & innovation. The phone I hold in my hand as I type here in Scotland 🏴, was manufactured with key skills born from these visionary compadres. And now, new technologies & skills are being born in China to bless all of the world .. grandchildren of this majestic & beautiful people’s “103”! (And the testimony at the end, of this dear Professor who helped invent Chinese computer teaching in Algol etc .. she smiled with such delight remembering how workers carefully carried the heavy parts into place, and the sending University send it by specially arranged transport - all this cooperation, which enriched & enabled so many new brilliant student minds through a “103” being purposefully placed into that area 🎁). I hope we can all take that “103” spirit of generosity & innovation with us today, to make everywhere a better & collaborative place, for all of humanity 👍💙

Wait... was Yinge-1 a clone of the Cray ???!!! If so... a complete clone ?
@geeklogic10 күн бұрын
No, Yinhe-1 is not a simple clone of the Cray, but it learned some of Cray's design. My friend Si Hongwei wrote a book about Yinhe-1 computer, which was just published recently, but it is only available in Chinese.

@@geeklogic, thanks for the info... I had hoped that the programs developed for the Yinhe-1 would complement those available for the Cray-1. Hopefully, better efforts were made to preserve the software of the Yinhe-1 compared to the Cray-1.

How did he have a Post Office Box in Kowloon? Is this the same Kowloon City, outside of Hong Kong I visited in the early Nineties?

Yes, it's the same Kowloon in HongKong. Hua first returned to Hong Kong from the United States, and after a short stay, returned to Beijing on March 16, 1950.
