Great talks! In regards to the Jonas part. I believe the soilder was the guy Jonas had to take parts of his body. Sevarian had resurrected him while Jonas was apart of his body. Jonas had left from the mirrors and came back somehow to find the one girl that died. Thats why Sevarian was saying the soilder was two people.

I only noticed on the last rereading that Wolfe's horse/destrier language game is even deeper. Repeatedly and especially in Citadel, he refers to destriers as having "hoofs". Previously I thought that just a mistake in the crappy paperback edition I had, like many other I'd noticed. But the mistake is repeated exactly. Then it hit me - just as Tolkien intentionally used "dwarves" to separate those beings from humans with dwarfism, so Wolfe uses "hoofs" to separate a destrier's clawed extremities from those of present-day horses. But little Severian's "wolfs" is just a child's mistake ... right?

@BaldBookTuber2 ай бұрын
@@mix-jk3ys I’m not sure what you mean about reading for Sanderson. As to the question, after he finishes and publishes book 7, he has talked about writing other works within the Sun Eater universe, but no concrete plans yet.
@mix-jk3ys2 ай бұрын
@BaldBookTuber sounds amazing. Will they be their own series with their individuality with long serieses like the cosmere long serieses in the same universe without interacting with each other or will it be something like knight of the seven kingdom from asoiaf dunken a knight from westros with interacting with the main lore and world of asoiaf honestly i will eat anything he writes but i wish for the series to be it's own thing

Did you find Malazan to be hard to follow on audiobook? I have the first five on audio but a ton of people have not recommended listening saying that it’s harder to follow on audio… I figured I should ask an expert.
@BaldBookTuber4 ай бұрын
I’m about as far from a Malazan expert as there is, but I appreciate the question. I really do enjoy the audio for the series, especially Lister for the first three books, but I’m also a huge Michael Page fan. I did the whole series immersively - it’s just the best reading experience for me personally to read and audio simultaneously using the kindle and audio versions together. I think I could probably reread on audio fairly well, but doing a straight audio of the series as a first time read is likely beyond my personal capacity. Hope you love it!

@samm8190 I am, but it’s personal to me and I don’t really talk about it. My response was based perhaps on a misunderstanding of the original poster’s point; I was saying if they consider the list invalid because of the religious beliefs of Christopher and/or this collection of authors, that type of close-minded thinking is gonna be tough for me to get on board with.

I found "Shadow of the Torturer" in my grandfather's library when I was about 13-14 (after Lord of the Rings trilogy and Interview with a Vampire) and I think I missed a lot of things that were over my head, like the idea of an "unreliable narrator". But to think books should be in the third person and not the first? Frankly, I find that totally bizarre. Did you grow up in the Bible Belt?
