Holy shit that is a terrifying sight. You're out of fuel, falling like a brick towards a planet, and you're on emergency oxygen. 1 minute from ending, he could hear his pilot choking and the oxygen running low. Glad he had refills

I got saved by a fuel rat my first week in game a long time ago, but he just kinda randomly found me out of gas near a star. I didn’t even know what the rats were and didn’t know he was one until later.

Ill never understand why people do these ridiculous trips on a game where 90% of you go looks the same, and even with a fuel scoop installed, people still at risk on running on a fuel desert trip at some point. Just why? What's the point of exploration if everywhere you go looks the same?

Its may look the same but there is always the possibility for cool sights, rare finds, and putting your name on a system.

Yes, that's in Legacy. These fights don't work properly in Live at the moment, all the Goids will de-aggro and jump away.

Wow. Just Wow. Watching this in January 2023 and its just amazing that volunteers do this for people in a video game. Many blessings to EVERY Fuel Rat. !! This was an awesome save. And as a new player, I just learned something from this video, and from an actual Fuel rat. Always have materials to Synthesize Emergency Oxygen. Such an awesome thing to learn from a Fuel Rat. ❤

I've been saved by a fuel rat before back when I started. The guy taught me all about fuel scopes and how to effectivly plot routes. I greatly respect people who act as Fuel Rats <3

I know this video is quite old already but I saw you nickname in the stats list of the site and was wondering if you could explain it there are specific requirements for a fuel rat? You know, like ship type, or if you're required to be logged in at least x hours per week or so?

The only requirement is that you want to help people. You don't have to be on call any more than you want to be. When not on call, you can still do whatever you want to, Fuel Rats come from all areas of the game. Best ships for fuel ratting in my experience are the DBX, AspX and Krait Phantom. For long-range rescues, the Anaconda rules.

@@BrotherSabathius for a long range rescue, what advantage does Anaconda provide over ships like a DBX, or AspX? Am thinking of joining the Rats after this expedition I started recently and am just curious

@@fosstera The Anaconda can get to the rescue system faster with its big jump range. You can fairly easily approach 80ly equipped for rescue, and a big size 7 scoop means it will beat the AspX and DBX over a long distance.

Absolutely, this is a long-term game. I've played since 2014 and the Odyssey update added a load of new things with more still to come.
