Yup, I work on the Help Desk and feel burnt out. Working on my skills to level up into a better role. End goal is to break into Cyber Security and have my Dad retire from working. Luckily, the Crowdstrike event didn't impact the phones / Creation of Tickets as heavily as maybe other Companies. Anyway, great vid - Keep em coming

What you think taking part in CTFs? To help in getting into Cybersecurity?
@Tech_Untamed4 ай бұрын
CTFs, just like certs, or on the job experience is a tool, it depends on how you leverage your achievements and accomplishments. When it comes to CFTs alone no that won’t land you a job because you need to apply/show case your skills that allow you to do CFTs on a resume and or portfolio on how can you add value to a company for the role you’re applying to. Remember when you’re in an interview, they will ask you what experience do you have applying your skills in real world scenarios that allowed you to make an impact, meaning did you save the company money, or make the company money, were you able to find a vulnerability that no one else found, were you able to provide your expertise to harden security in a production environment, etc……

Thanks. You’re right. I would add to that being good at your job, assessing risk and not being heard by those who decide the course of action- aka being surrounded by morons whose egos override everything including the risk of losing business money or reputation.

What's been your experience in the current job market?

Solid advice - Be likable, Be prepared for recruiter questions, and keep the negative comments about the previous employer away from the conversation. Be likable - Don't pretend to be something you aren't, be you. Preparation for questions - Know yourself and your skills. Lastly, keep the comments professional when asked about the previous employer - "I am looking for growth in my career and feel that xyz company is best suited for my path in cybersecurity." Know your whys, do the research on not only yourself, but the companies, and recruiters you are going to / speaking to for a job.

nice video! im in cyber for almost a decade and think you are right. it is hectic, there is always something new to study and it pays very well. everybody wants the last part, but if you cant deal with the other parts this field is def not for you. This is really inspiring content while remaining humble and relatable. The skills necessary to succeed in cyber are things I'm passionate about already and starting at $16 repairing laptops sounds a lot more fun than slinging pizzas for the same pay! Excellent work you're doing here, brody. This might be the push I need to jump into this career. A bit of game for ya, I've been told that subs hitting the bell is a double edged sword. In the sense that if people are receiving those notifications and don't click through on em it has a negative effect on engagement. I'm not a creator tho so.. grain of salt.

It definitely was a lot better, than slinging pizzas, and thank you for the advice I will keep that in mind.

Feels fair to me. Villian's points feel negative in order to temper expectations with a bit of reality. And from my perspective, anyone who felt put off by that reality was offered alternative options that would likely work better for them. Good video to me, +1 sub.

Love the video - your struggle, how you managed to get into Tech and acquire experience through the various roles you had. Furthermore, I truly like what you stated about the role and how it could tie into another tech role that could be added to the resume (provided of course the role responsibilities are actually similar). Great vid and looking forward to listening to your next.
