This is not tvp. You didn't do any process to remove the carbs from it.

Thanks… I tried it with pea protein powder, ( I sprinkle in a little garlic salt while the water cooked down to start building the flavor profile) …. It’s drying in the oven right now…. I put just a little grape seed oil on my glass baking dish to keep it from sticking… in the oven on 200… after 2 hours it was dry enough for me to flip it so that the bottom could dry … lol I can’t wait to try this in a dish

Home made TVP, wow. And it looks a lot more healthy. They said you need a giant factory machine to make it.

I'm looking at this brand of quinoa call Nora Quinn and it says bring 6 to 8 cups of water to boil for one cup of quinoa... That sounds crazy to me..

That's about 70% rough fibers that are bad for and can clog up your gut, with the remainder being protein that's stuck in the fibers and is hard to digest. There's a reason for filtering the fibers out when making soymilk, and it's not just the thick grit... It's really bad. If you wouldn't put a food-item down your kitchen sink, even with a garbage disposal, don't put it in your body, either.

Isn't this kind of similar to Burmese Tofu? I mean some of the steps, blending soy beans into flour, mixed with water then cooked until a thick consistency in a pot on the stove. But that's obviously where the similarity ends, because this is dried/baked into chunks, and the burmese tofu goes in the fridge. Anyway, I went the long route of making this by first making split pea tofu, then crumbled the tofu (was easier right at the stage it began freezing and become more solid and brittle), dried it kinda like in this video, then ground it into powder and then followed your TVP recipe here, 2:1 water/powdered tofu etc. and it came out pretty great! I'm wondering if I can skip the tofu step now though.

No way this recipe uses 1 cup of flour for 1 cup of water. You need twice as much water. My dough came out dry, I had to ad more water. And it felt very salty. A pinch of salt would be enough, not 1/2 tsp

Nice coz it's wholesome & homemade. However, "textured" isn't applicable nor achievable through this method... though useful substitute for those who have no access to the very cheap & widely available soy TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) in health food stores, Asian food stores & other grocery stores.
