I left my hair alone for 4 years. at the time, I was beginning my hair journey in college and didn't have the finances or the time to get my hair braided regularly. I still ended up struggling to maintain length (partially my fault since I'd get tired of not being able to do anything with my hair once it got the slightest bit of length ad would trim it down short again). I've been off and on braiding my hair again since the start of this summer and have definitely noticed a difference. I think my hair is just the type that needs that little bit of stress to do what it needs to do XD

Agreed. Mini twists can be dangerous for fine thin 4c hair. One time I wet my hair while detangling my mini twists. Horrible tangling. Lost quite a bit of hair.

I switched to mini braids as well, and the retention is much better. Definitely less breakage. The mini braids require more patience, but it's worth it.

I guess it depends how its put in because I rocked microbraids in the early 2000s all the time when I was in the military. Never had any issues with my edges or being too tight. My hair flourished 😊.

Off topic: You call yourself a natural but you have wavy hair? Hair relaxers isn't for wavy hair. Hair relaxers are used to straighten highly textured hair. Natural hair is descriptive of someone with highly textured hair. It isn't about ones complexion. Im not coming for you, im just trying to understand how you came to this conclusion. Hi Khay, I would recommend flat twists with your natural hair, or even cornrows with your own hair. Some fine naturals have also benefitted from twists using only their natural hair as well. I hope this helps. 💛

@@FineNaturalHairROCKS I've seen many videos people putting braids like these in there hair as a protective style and they create bald spots from tension I could be wrong tho but whenever I get braids once I take them out I'm always left with bald spots which is why I usually silk press or blow out. I get my hair done professionally usually btw

@@aeyla-symonesmith3249 Ohhh, I see what you're saying. As a protective style, this style is best installed on natural hair without additional extensions. I totally agree that it can cause breakage if it's installed incorrectly using added hair.

Love the style but my "kitchen"🤭 is really fine due to years of ponytails. Not enough hair to braid down low but keep sending different styles!! So appreciate it cause I'm at a loss for styles (thus the low ponytail).😔

I haven’t actually tried too many crochet styles but I think it could work well. The hair would have to be a smoother texture though - still try to avoid rough Marley hair on fine strands

The worst part is someone told me NOT to get them, and I still did anyways 🤦🏽♀️😢..I should have listened..after my 3rd pregnancy my hair was long and thin, but not too thin; it was starting to thrive! 😫 This hairstyle will definitely take your thin hair out!
