Wow. Just wow. One of their most gorgeous and poignant songs. A deep album cut, from Fables. Thank you, Michael. I hope for our country that your singing helps get Kamala Harris elected.

For Stipe to break his anti-nostalgia stance with a small set of ancient REM songs - yes, without reforming the band - and to do so selling out to a presidential candidate is sad. And the absurd "in god we trust" nightmare on the wall just makes this a tone deaf train wreck. Sure, anyone pushing against Trump is worth noting but not this way.

@@kovacist3256 I realize this of course. I was pointing out that the disgraceful "in god we trust" propaganda should be erased from modern life. There is not a chance that Michael Stipe is a Christian nor stupid enough to believe in the cult of the horrific homophobic fools that spew this crap.

This is torture. Stipe's voice is shot. And I hate that he's out there stumping for candidates. And what does this song have to do with a campaign? Such an odd choice. I know this was a mini set but still...
@benjaminpensiero85198 күн бұрын
I don’t think we were watching the same performance. Or, truly, we’re seeing it differently. This is one of the poetic early REM songs, a deep album cut from their third album, one that certainly didn’t make them rich. One with Peter Buck on banjo, and Mike Mills singing beautiful harmony vocals. About a real guy, Wendell Gee, from Georgia. A perfect song.

@@pumpwellington6631 Thanks for making such an absurd mistake. Stipe should not be fronting for politicians. Doing so is a sell out. And not that you care but I despise Trump. Trump is vile. Evil. Deranged. And a danger. But that doesn't mean I am going to embarrass myself by promoting Harris or any other character for president.
@jeffnorman36613 күн бұрын
@@BLAB-it5un Nah, you can just embarrass yourself here by imagining that people aren't free to campaign for whom they wish...even if they happen to be famous.

great work guys. i think the late Mr. Parsons, may he rest in peace, would be very pleased with your cover of this song. i like it because you don't copy the original song, nor his solo/duet versions. You respect the song, but make it sound fresh and alive by putting your own feeling into the lyrical lines. That makes it sound like it is coming from your hearts. And that is what great music is really all about. At least, that's my conclusion after 51 years of enjoying music. arigatou gozaimasu.
