1:47:00 should have went for the bank shot and played offense. you are rated pro and played very tight this tournament. doubted yourself too much this tournament for some reason. imo ..always a fan. funny when commentator said there must be 100 people watching her play, dude was clueless

Noisy People Talking, Noisy Place during a Pool Tournament. Voices are so loud cannot hear all the other tables, balls cracking, like typically do.

I don't think there's a better one rail banker in this game than chip which is a huge benefit , he's a great player for sure, I'd like to see him in tourneys racing to 3 and see how he does , and I certainly think he's trying to get under Scott's skin by talking trash . And he also finds the edge of the ball faster than anyone and shoots faster .

I was on the road for a decade with a guy who when he later turned pro, won BOTH the US Open 9-Ball and US Open One Pocket.. And lemme tell ya, he’d rob these guys.. lol.. It’s like what Jersey Red used to say is still true….. “there’s about 8-10 guys on the entire planet that know how to play one pocket… And you ain’t one of them!”.. lol..

Cheng is good but hard to watch.... At his level, he shouldn't need to do all that.
@jgallagher1359
@jgallagher1359 2 жыл бұрын
hard to watch but this is real pool. he's playing he exact right way in a no shot clock environment where it's serious. most amateurs would benefit from occasionally experimenting with this style of play. but also, most people can't slow down and think through options. they get mentally frustrated and anxious and just want to play fast/dumb.
@2869may
@2869may 2 жыл бұрын
@@jgallagher1359 I understand that that to a point.... But there's overthinking too, (maybe not at this level) With a GOOD understanding of the game. Letting your brain make quick calculations without second guessing can work well for some people... Like they say in basketball don't look at the rim until right when you actually shoot. I realize some shots and position play take some thinking, but he's mulling over what seem to be fairly "easy" shots and position for someone at his level.. I LOVE pool, I built a table and play every day for the last year and a half, And even though I appreciate his skill it's hard to watch... I believe the shot clock is good for the spectator aspect of the game.

@@2869may I also get your point. and also find this style of play impossible to watch. and certainly agree there should be a shot clock. Also...yes, if he was forced to make quick decisions here some things would be easier and simpler than he's making it. ----------------------- but....cheng's goal here isn't to entertain. they're playing for money. and his goal is to be cautions and not make a sloppy mistake. the standard of 'easy" changes in the environment and how good you have to be to win. over and over and over I see guys saying things are easy that really aren't. 3 balls left laying out in the open with ball in hand isn't easy if the expectation is 100 out of 100 success rate. especially if caring a lot about the outcome. even top amateurs don't get out 100 out of 100 there usually. but all the time I see them acting like they do or they should and playing too fast and getting sloppy and not thinking through their position or making sure they have their angles figured out or really really making sure they make the shot. there certainly is a thing of playing too slow and without proper instinct. and certainly people can play well quickly. but the best guys, in big tournaments, typically play slow and use the full shot clock. Even in scenarios amateurs think are easy.
@jgallagher1359
@jgallagher1359 2 жыл бұрын
@@2869may and last thing: Cheng does speed up when the scenarios are more open and simpler. just look at how he closes out the match when it is open. my vote: 15 second shot clock. force people to play like Drago. Would be the most fun. But...if the goal is to win and there's no shot clock...you have to know how to play very very slow and very very cautious and disciplined. because that's usually that's how it goes down at the highest levels of competition from what I've seen unless someone is in dead stroke.

@@jgallagher1359 I can't disagree with any of that, Especially when they're putting the cue ball EXACTLY where they want... but I'm an Earl and Busty fan...lol I also watched Shane and Jason play each other and they were getting around the table pretty quick...! Fun to watch..!

Deuel was playing his sloooww game in 1st rack. Chip handled it well in the 2nd rack by instead of going back to his chair he stood close by putting a bit of pressure on Deuel to get on with it. It worked too!
