Hi there, what kind fuel range you guys get when off Roading on those bikes.Thanks, great video by theway.!
@WyomingFamilyAdventures7 күн бұрын
@ero7238 Thank you for the support and the question. I usually plan about 200 miles +/- about 50, depending on terain and how spirited I get with the throttle. On this ride, we cut it close and actually received an extra 1.25 gallons per bike from a very generous guy in a side x side on the other side of the mountain. We may or may not have made it all the way out without his donation. It definitely would have been close. Helpful folk is another thing we're not short of here in Wyoming. We'll definitely bring spare fuel the next time.
@WyomingFamilyAdventures7 күн бұрын
@ero7238 I should add that altitude plays a key role in calculating range. We likely get about 25%-35% (or less sometimes) than we could get if we rode at sea level. These bikes 'should' be capable of around 300 miles in 'ideal conditions'. Of course, we prefer less than ideal conditions. Lol
@codebuzz58667 күн бұрын

What brand of lights are you using and where did you purhcase? I have a t660 also. Have you experienced the blinking fuel gauge dash indicator issue on your bikes? I have had the part on order for 60+ days and had my local dealer order the part for me after filming it so they could order the part and open the warranty ticket with Aprila, so if it's not in before my warranty expires in Octobe,r it will still be covered. Telling you this just as an FYI for you and other owners. The sender unit is actually made by KTM.

Great information to watch for. Thank you for sharing! We haven't had any real issues with our bikes (yet). Is yours a 2022 model? This was great for me to watch. I am test riding a Tuareg tomorrow. I was originally thinking about buying something smaller, but I live about 1 1/2 hours away from trails minimum in Maine, so an adv bike would be nice at it would not require a trailer or backtracking to where I started from on the trail. Seeing you guys mess around makes me think I would not be giving up too much on the trails on a Tuareg vs. a honda CRF 300L or something like that. I love the idea of having plenty of room for camping gear and a great looking bike (compared to dual sports, at least to my eye). I am inspired. I trust are happy with your bikes vs dual sports.

So far we are loving them. We switched from having smaller dual sports (check out some of our other videos), but wanted a unicorn bike that could do it all. Unicorns are a myth but the Tuareg comes pretty close. We don't have any dealers in Wyoming, so we over protected to bolster reliability. Lol.

Congrats on the new bike!. I loved the look of the matching Outback skid, but my research showed that the Camel skid plate gave better overall protection (check out their test video). It's wide enough to cover the lower motor and most of the foot levers in a drop and the added slip liner covers the dog bones.

Ya the T-Rex skid plate is muuuuuuch better..
@WyomingFamilyAdventures2 ай бұрын
I don't know about better, but it's definitely more convenient for oil changes. I'd have to see somebody hit that one with a sledge hammer, while it's on their bike to be convinced that it's better. I also don't like the fact that the T Rex requires the additional lower crash bars to get as much coverage as the Camel skip plate gives alone.
@spencervidal31682 ай бұрын
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures The T-Rex plate is completely isolated from the oil pan.. No bolts or brackets attachment to the pan. Also covers the rear linkage for the swing arm.. Makes access to the oil filter a breeze..
@WyomingFamilyAdventures2 ай бұрын
@spencervidal3168 I'm sure it's a pretty good skid plate. I've used T-Rex products on other bikes. I definitely like the access panel for oil changes. However, it still doesn't cover as much without the addition of their ower crash bars, and they didn't have any evidence of impact testing. I also understand most of us want to believe that we made the best choice, And that what I find best for my use, may not be the best for others. I almost purchased the T-Rex plate, but after more research, I decided on the Camel. If you have the T-Rex, maybe you can come hit some trails with us sometime for a real world side by side comparison test. I can't think of a funner way to settle this debate. 🏍

@WyomingFamilyAdventures2 ай бұрын
Interesting perspective. Does someone make a rubber mounted skid plate for the Tuareg? I'm not sure that I would trust rubber mounts to be strong enough for some of the trails we ride with this heavy of a bike. I do believe the sub-mount on this one is sufficient for dampening. Cory at Camel ADV tested it by hitting it several times with a large sledgehammer, ...while it was mounted on the bike. I couldn't find any other skid plate manufacturers that even showed evidence of any testing. I'm definitely open to see something better, but I tried and couldn't find anything better as far as protection goes.

@daveo9844 I had to go back and look at the Heed. Plate again, because it has been since last year. I definitely agree that the Heed plate is very good option. I’m curious about the placement of the 20mm and 15mm spacers. The OutbackMotortek video is specifying the longer 20 mm spacer is on the right and the middle sized 15mm spacer is on the left. You are specifying the opposite. What are your thoughts on why you changed the placement?
@WyomingFamilyAdventures4 ай бұрын
Thank you for noticing. I personally found Outback Motortek's install video incomplete and conflicting. Great crash bars, but not a great install video from them. We're okay with that, and don't mind them sticking to what they do best, since we won't be building our own set of crash bars. We triple checked fitment on Carl's bike before filming the installation on Cody's bike, so we are very confident in our installation.

@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Thanks for your reply! I also found their video a bit confusing. Particularly where they specified the use of the 40mm bolt on the left rear as that length will not engage the threads once the 10mm spacer, crash bar tab and washer on in-place.
