Me and a group of friends happened to be part of this. We were going to fish on the other side of the bridge and when we were heading to our fishing spot we seen this move happening, so we had no clue what we were doing but we pulled up next to a pontoon boat and helped push this bog. Was an awesome experience to be part of.

It’s been along time since I left Duluth (1975). I was stationed in USCG Group Duluth (Huron LtSta, Station Portage, Station Duluth). My Dad and Grandpa were both born and raised in Duluth they told me how cold it got there. During my last winter (Feb 1975) it got down to -36 degree F. One winter in the early 70’s one of the polar icebreaker (USCGC Wind Class) was brought in to assist the Mackinaw WABG-83 to open the west end of Lake Superior, it was hard work.

Wow! It’s no wonder they had to call in the icebreaker to help the Mackinaw! Thank you for sharing the story with us.

I think my problem with this, is like it's not even like a necessity. You guys are just mad because your recreational sport is going bye-bye. I think this is a bit ridiculous. We wiped them out, this is the way things should be. Obviously, if there is over predation, then yes, maybe one season where the DNR manages that. Other than that, this is actually a good thing. Tbh, there might be some good hunting games on meta quest/Apple Vision or something?

Does the commander ever put her beverage container down? Also, if the ship's crane has a problem, why is it not being addressed while in port? Duluth has both military and civilian resources more than capable of repairs.
@LokiOdinson-fz8ps

Because the locks close at midnight and they don't want her stuck in the trashheap known as Duluth all winter. Besides genius it's a crane not an engine or the hull.

Why in the world does the Chief have a beard? What has happened to our military?
@robertlivingston1634
@robertlivingston1634 21 күн бұрын
The navy allows beards, have for a long time so I imagine the coast guard is the same. I was noticing the captains tattoos that are discouraged by the military and was thinking that's not a good example for the enlisted.

@robertlivingston1634 Beards were not allowed when I served in the early 90's. She would have not been promoted with the tattoos.
@kennethloki7011
@kennethloki7011 21 күн бұрын
Beards were allowed in the coast guard for over 200 years until they were banned in the 80s. But since the coast guard is NOT a part of the department of defense, and the reasons against beards didn't make sense for the coast guard, that ban didn't last long.

This directly from the current edition of U.S. Coast Guard Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6K: "Beards - All personnel will be clean-shaven while in uniform. Commanding officers or Officers-InCharge will grant permanent shaving waivers for personnel who have received a confirmed diagnosis of Pseudo folliculitis barbae (PFB) by a medical doctor providing health care for unit personnel. PFB waivers are permanent and do not require renewal upon transfer. If waiver approved, members will not shave any facial hair. Facial hair will be trimmed so as not to exceed 1/4 inch in length."

So you know, "Point Dogs" are SWING DOGS and their job is to bring the team around to follow the LEADERS, they move the team to follow the Leaders. The WHEEL DOGS are special, your lifeline, they are closest to you. When the ice is breaking under your sled going underwater, they are the Heart and Soul that pull you out, save your bacon. As your sled starts to slide sideways off the trail, down the embankment, they are the ones to pull you back right. That's been my experience, mostly with an 8 dog trapline team. Good luck yall

I want to see a list of every City of Duluth employee and their compensation package because I am under the impression they are compensated very well for the work they accomplish. I may be wrong. How does AFSCME come up with their "market pay" figure? Is it derived from other government entities' pay scales or from the private sector? Some items to note may be, are city vehicles still being used by employees to travel to restaurants? How much does the person processing items out of the library earn? For the wastewater plant employees working six 12 hour days a week; I want to know how they are being forced to work that much? Or is it voluntary and looked upon as a perk due to the overtime pay they receive?
