If you have the piles in 2 different types of soil, why do you have only 1 type of pile interface? isn't it the more accurate way to create 2 types of interface according to the layer where pile is?

The webinar discusses the ultimate and serviceability analysis of reinforced concrete using Midas FEA software. It covers defining concrete properties, creating finite element models, performing iterative analysis, and interpreting results. Key topics include various concrete fracture models, stress-strain diagrams, and methods for assessing design resistance and serviceability limits in structural analysis. Key moments: 00:10 This webinar focuses on the use of the Midas Touch software for modeling concrete structures through finite element methods. It aims to educate on defining material properties, creating models, and interpreting results. -Understanding the finite element method is crucial as it allows for accurate simulation of structural responses under various loads. It is widely used in the analysis of concrete structures. -Different concrete fracture models, such as discrete and total strain models, are discussed for their effectiveness in predicting crack behavior during analysis. Each model has specific applications based on complexity. -The presentation highlights the importance of accurately defining tensile and compressive strengths in concrete. These parameters are essential for creating reliable stress-strain relationships in models. 08:03 The analysis of cracking in concrete structures is crucial for ensuring safety and performance. Employing appropriate finite element modeling techniques can significantly enhance the reliability of structural assessments. -Utilizing a fixed effect model with a constant attention vector is recommended for conservative results in analyzing beam and slip slabs. This approach aids in predicting crack occurrences accurately. -Material properties such as tensile fracture energy and compressive strength are critical in structural analysis. Understanding these properties can lead to more accurate predictions of structural behavior under loads. -Different methods for determining design resistance are essential. These methods involve analyzing global safety factors and applying mechanical properties appropriately during the finite element analysis. 16:07 Understanding the nonlinear properties of concrete structures is crucial for accurate modeling and analysis. The selection of mesh size and material properties significantly impacts the results of the numerical simulations. -The importance of selecting an appropriate mesh size is highlighted for achieving detailed crack analysis in concrete structures. Smaller elements yield more accurate results in simulations. -Nonlinear material properties, such as total strain and cracking behavior, need to be considered for realistic boundary conditions. These properties help avoid stress concentrations in numerical modeling. -Results from the analysis provide insights into stress and strain distributions within concrete. Evaluating these distributions helps in understanding the structural integrity under various loading conditions. 24:15 The video discusses the process of modeling a bridge pier cap using Midas software, focusing on the necessary steps and parameters for accurate structural analysis. It emphasizes the importance of material properties and mesh quality in obtaining reliable results. -A comparison of ultimate load results from Midas software and experimental tests highlights the accuracy of the fixed crack model in structural analysis. This underscores the significance of using reliable models. -The video demonstrates the initial modeling steps, including creating contours and applying loads, showcasing how to efficiently set up a structural model using simple tools. -Different material properties, such as concrete elasticity and reinforcement characteristics, are crucial for proper modeling. Understanding these properties helps in achieving a realistic simulation of structural behavior. 36:32 The video demonstrates the process of generating a mesh for concrete structures, focusing on the creation of specific elements and reinforcement configurations. The speaker highlights the importance of mesh size and element properties for accurate modeling. -The speaker discusses the selection of element sizes and properties, emphasizing the use of nonlinear shape functions for improved accuracy in modeling. This is crucial for realistic simulations. -The video outlines the process of applying boundary conditions and loads, detailing the fixed boundaries at column tips and vertical loads at the top of beams. This step is essential for realistic analysis. -Lastly, the speaker explains the setup for analysis, including naming the analysis type and controlling output parameters to ensure correct interpretation of results. This is vital for understanding structural behavior. 48:38 Advanced modeling techniques are essential in predicting the behavior of concrete structures under various conditions. These models enable engineers to analyze and mitigate potential failure points effectively. -The use of numerical and experimental tests in this research enhances understanding of the structural integrity of reinforced concrete under progressive collapse scenarios. Detailed models provide valuable insights for engineers. -3D modeling techniques, including total strain crack models, allow for accurate predictions of cracking patterns in concrete structures. This is crucial for the design of robust construction elements. -Investigating the influence of transverse steel reinforcement on cracking prediction helps improve the durability of concrete walls and slabs. This is particularly important in multi-story building designs. 58:33 The discussion revolves around the application of nonlinear creep in structural analysis, particularly in concrete and timber sections. Various methods for modeling loads and stresses are highlighted, showcasing their flexibility in engineering design. -Nonlinear creep can be defined using a set of creep curves based on loads applied, allowing engineers to analyze strain behaviors effectively. This is crucial for accurate structural modeling. -Applying pressure loads or distributed forces in modeling can yield similar results, giving engineers the choice to use the most convenient method for their design. This flexibility enhances modeling precision. -The importance of mesh quality in modeling is emphasized, as finer meshes can lead to more accurate results in areas of interest. This helps ensure convergence in structural analysis. Generated by sider.ai

Hi, I am using midas 2022 version. When ever I use scroll to zoom in our zoom out I get option to zoom in or out just by moving mouse backwards or forwards and afterwards I have to middle click to exit "the zoom" mode. A bit annoying to be honest. Is there any way to turn this off?

Thanks for your video!! It's very helpful for engineers to learn and understand how to model more exactly bridge works on software. However, i have little bit confuses as below: If i applied Small displacement mode for completion model of stay cable bridge to get initial element forces, and took these values as equilibrium element nodal forces of large displacement mode of backward analysis model, what should i do with initial forces for geometric stiffness? Ignore it or take it as input data of backward model? If necessary, how can i take? Thanks for your helping again.

It's not that clear how you created nodes on the steel tub girder sections, could you please explain me more on that? As you mentioned in the video, since those tub girders are represented by single nodes, how do we create nodes on the surfaces of tub girder? If there's a link to video doing this or even a file done in Midas it would be great if you forward it. Thanks!!
