It's time.

Not a clue where to find OEM parts for a 1968 Kawai MIJ bass. I've never actually seen a real one in person other than mine. I cleaned the chrome bits by soaking then in baking soda and white vinegar (very old trick). Gently cleaned the body and neck with naphtha. Used Deoxit D5 on the electronics. Re-soldered the wiring because the ancient solder joints were ghosting when I first got the bass. The only parts I needed were two 4mm x 10mm screws for the bridge cover, which I found at local hardware store.

Thanks Jim! It's not too complicated to play. Mostly triads with hammer-ons. The entire tune has sort of an Irish jig feel to it, 4/4 time -- D-A D-G D-A G-A (x2) is the main 'A' part, then short melody part walk-down, into Bm-C7 Bm-C7 Bm-C7 D7 is the refrain 'B' part, then D-G D-E C7 D7 is the turnaround 'C' part, then back to the main 'A' part, then an improv section that's slowed down, and then end. You can repeat the entire A-B-C loop if you like.

I've pretty much given up on Elixir strings. For regular acoustic guitars I now prefer Stringjoy string made down-home by hand in Nashville, TN.
