I saw the first Star Wars movie in Toronto...in a huge, old fashioned theater with a balcony. The only seats we could get was first row balcony. From the opening crawl to the closing credits, I sat there with my mouth open....I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. I think I saw that flick 47 times in theaters all over the country. Wow.

I think this line is my favorite in the movie. I know people like the flesh wound thing i think thats the like greatest hit so to speak but this is just brilliant timing and delivery in a time where that didnt really exist. The bridge guard randomly and without any necessity shooting flames as a flex is a close second, as is the rest of the movie.

I can still vividly remember the first time seeing the commercial for the movie when it came out. I was at my friends house and I remember thinking I'd never seen anything like this in my life. And just then my friends dad walked in, stopped for a moment to watch it, and said and I quote "It'll be a flop" oh well so much for that.

Genuinely one of the greatest moments in cinema history. The first thing Star Wars ever did was destroy your ear drums without warning and it was the coolest thing ever. Who cares about building up to something, just blast their ears off. Why wait until you've earned the right to a triumphant fanfare?
