I used shell method with these three problems and got the same answers! Sometimes shell makes these easier and sometimes it makes them harder, but I like to understand the concepts.

Why do you write (5-y^2) on the board and (5-x^2) on the calculator. Not supposed to be spinning around the "y" axis.

The calculator is simply looking for a variable when integrating, and since there is no y function on a calculator to input we use x instead. The answer where the variable is x and y will be the same. If it were not the same, then we would simply have to integrate the function using algebraic methods and anti derivatives
