I think her gripping is her weak spot and it seems to be generally poor among modern judokas. If Abe would dominate her opponents by her grip rather than rushing into immediate attacks, her strong technique would be even more devastating.

@@FranciscoEstrada1 Yes, more. If you watch her matches, she often rushes in to attacks with the first touch and as a result most end up not scoring. Yes, she still wins in the end, but I think she could easily do even better. If she focused on obtaining a dominant grip first, with the strength of her technique, it would be ippon almost every time. Her brother is a good example of a much better execution of this. It is not just her, though. Avoiding grip seems to be the norm in modern judo for some reason.

Great video. Uta lost to Shishime Ai in the 2017 All Japan and to Tsunoda Natsumi in the 2018 All Japan. She lost to Tsubone last year because she was injured and didn't appear on the tatami, so it wasn't really a loss. By the way, Tsunoda is the only one to have a positive record against Abe. Their H2H is 2-1 is favor of Tsunoda.
