In the 4th or 5th Altair memory (i forget which), one of Altair’s biggest regrets was that he never told himself that he’s seen enough for one lifetime and put down his sword. I think he felt obligated to continue carrying out and trying to fix the assassin’s, which was good anyway but that was basically his life. It’s nice to see that Ezio was probably not as wise as Altair, but knew when it was time for him to stop and end his path as a “conduit.” Revelations was a bit boring in terms of gameplay but goddamn what a fantastic story it brought.

I’ve always love how the the original saga used religion and doomsday prophecies to tell its story. It’s something the new games don’t have as much of.
