Progress, progress. Where does it end? One farm per county? The whole state? Maybe one entity owning the whole world. No thanks.

I think it’s sad they don’t get to stay with their mothers. I also think it’s sad that they probably get killed for meat when they grow up. Happy music can be misleading.

Wow it’s so sad to see these babies separated from their mothers on their first day of life, and only get to live two years, a fraction of their potential lifespan. We must seek kinder alternatives. We must work towards a more ethical world, you know?

Unfortunately because of the ever increasing demand for meat and dairy it's unlikely that industrial farms will seek such accommodations.

WI farmer. Facts are facts and no cows were not tied All thr time. I don't know why there is a push to demonize the dairy farms of Old. This propaganda to make modern horsemanship better then the past. No cows were not tied 25/7 and yes the cows came to the milking facility. Cows before the industrial revolution and after were milking in the morning then let out to green Pastured to GRAZE on the land under the sun. Then the cow cam back to the barn in the evening for milking where they were kept till more milking again. Even in the winter here in WI we let our cows out. I remember my Great Grandfather saying if a cows is tied up all day and night you have a dead cow. Facts are facts. Stop this nonsense of saying cows are happier in a confinement operation. I have worked on both Organic Pastured dairy farms and a confinement free stall barn. I can assure you cows outside to move on grass and dirt not concrete are happier.

Most people have no idea how much happier cows are that live in well designed freestall barns. No different than humans wanting to be comfortable in their habitat
@Elle_Gowing Жыл бұрын
I was horrified some years ago when I got talking to a dairy farmer from Kansas. He ran a large dairy farm where the cows were milked 4 times a day. They never grazed on pasture, the system was zero grazing where the grass was mowed and fed to the cows in the stalls. Horrible. There is nothing like the joy of cattle being turned onto grass after a winter in the barn. They are meant to be on grass some of the time anyway. Milk produced from cows kept in a barn 24/7 all year round cannot be as healthy as milk produced from cows who go out to graze on grass. You want to know how to treat your animals better? Let them graze outside for some of the year.
