Proving your bloodline is relatively easy. The real difficulty is getting an appointment to present your documents at an Italian consulate. It can take years to get the appointment

Hi I'm age 60 Canadian and retired. I'm looking for some contacts at a suitable location close to the beaches and city I could rent, either a 1 bedroom or 2 that is affordable. Thanks.

My parents had to renounce their Italian Citizenship to obtain a Canadian one back in 1964. Due to that, I can't become an Italian Citizen by decent.

I think many would like to know how one goes about owning property in Spain as a tax non-resident and is able to get around Spanish taxes.

I spent a month in Valencia in 2017 and enjoyed it very much but I'm wondering...what are the key differences between Valencia and Alicante from a retirement perspective? Specifically, I'm interested in the cost of apartment rentals.

Interesting video with a lot of good information. However, I would like to clarify some things. First, a true expat is one that has moved full time to a different country. A snowbird who visits for up to 6 months a year is definitely not an expat. Second, the rents quoted in the video are for furnished places primarily in the tourist zones. If you live here full time, as I do, you would more likely want to rent unfurnished which can bring the price down significantly although those places are harder to find in the tourist zones. Third, what wasn't mentioned as an adjustment are the cultural differences. These can be significant when living full time here or anywhere for that matter. For example, expectations of Canadian or US standards for services. Here you need to have a lot of patience and also accept that it may take longer to get things done and it may not be exactly what you expect. I've been here full time almost 14 years and I love it! I rent a small 2 bdrm unfurnished house in a quiet "colonia" (neighborhood) only 10 minutes away from the beach and all the "action". My basic expenses (rent, water, electric, cell, internet) run about $500 USD ($700 CDN) a month.

Will you please explain the bank thing? How do I access my U.S. account while residing in Mexico? Do I need to open an account there? Like if I decided to stay there for 6 mos. mol, for regularization, I would need to pay rent, and pay bills, etc. I've contacted an attorney there, but he is quite expensive to hire... I'm retired and seriously exploring this option, I live in Florida. I understand I must drive or fly in, as a tourist and then renew/apply for residency at a local immigration office. Thank you.

My GGF was Italian and through that connection I'd like to request IT citizenship. However, all papers were lost in WWI, WWII and Balkans wars. I don't even have his birth certificate. I'm pretty sure documents were lost in IT during time, as well. I don't know much about my GGF so I can't provide info. Should I keep on going that way, or simply quit and go for another visa type? Thanks! 😊

Yup. Progressive in USA means riots, sidewalk drug dens, homeless living on streets, crime everwhere. I don't think they mean this place is like California! Very idealistic folks speaking!! Let's just say it's a functioning liberal democracy that acts as a buffer state between two large rival countries. And leave the narrow university educationed USA perspective out of it.

1. This must have been made some tme ago. The Peso is now about 18 to the dollar and because this and of the many other economic improvements under the AMLO government Mexico is no longer that cheap. Still cheaper the the US, particularly compared to a place like CA. but don’t expect it to be alot cheaper then the US because it is not anymore. The financial requirements fir residency are tied to the Mexican minimum wage and these have gone up very sharply because undervMORENA the minimum wage has gone up like 80%! 2. It is important, I would say essential, to learn the local language this is especially true when coming from a place like the US and expecting everybody to bow to your standards which would be particularly insulting.
