Excellent thanks for the preview. Looks like all the rock has gone or could you still do some of the old features if you wanted? Appreciate others really like flow trails but I'm not sure I'd ride this again as it looks like the essential nature of the trail (techy) has been changed... or is it some GoPro flattening effect do you think?

Hey mart - love the vids! Bit of a random q but how do you find these trails? I've only just started up biking and have Trailforks to work out where I'll hopefully end up at the end of a trail... guessing you just have to know a guy who knows a guy. On another side note - do you know that track that starts at the bottom of Chimney Sweep/very top of rough justice? It takes you out on Raiha St. Tried doing it the other week - steep as fuck/absolute shit show for me haha but interested if you've done it. Edit: also just realised this comment may be a bit of a faux pas. Delete if needed!

Hey mate. Yea there is some super sick ‘unsanctioned’ trails up on that hill and none of them are on the map so to speak. Most of the core local riders know them well so I’d get chatting to them when you go up there and they will give you the good oil on what’s what. The trail you mentioned is called BushWhacker. It’s a pretty spicy aye 🤣. A lot of the unmapped trails need a decent amount of pre-ride checking as there are some funky features 🤘🏻

@thesingletracksurfer
@thesingletracksurfer 6 ай бұрын
The type of trail a few of these ‘ghost’ trails are there isn’t that many around that match them. Yes there is a handful around like the triplets at Whynui,OCD, Verts,Trickle,YG and TopaTopa but for those out those ways in particular there has been zero. So that is why there are these trails now being built to service those that seek the more difficult terrain as opposed to the fambam style trail old mate from the bike shop seems so intent on.
@Covesurfer
@Covesurfer 6 ай бұрын
Are you really that dense @skybluenz? You seem to be interested in mountain biking but don't seem to understand that those that are good at it, want challenging trails.. Sure, there's others in the region, and it would be nice to think that trails are built through proper channels. But with that promise of sanctioned trails being built, going unfulfilled for the last 5 plus years, it's not surprising they're getting built now, illegally, close to where people live. And you know what, they're damn good trails - people are coming to Porirua to ride now. Why doesn't Porirua City Council be the bigger person here and take something bad and turn it into an asset. Make the mountain bike community offset the damage done through volunteer planting elsewhere on the hill, at a larger scale with better protection - there's plenty of scope for enhancement on the hill, and trails that could put some money into local businesses. Since you don't seem to know much about mountain biking in Wellington, have a look at Makara or Waimaipahi for examples where the mountain bike community have created ecological havens for vulnerable wildlife. Now we just need to get rid of cats. Hopefully you don't own one.
