I run bauxite as one of the ingredients I work with. I use a Cat 950M loader to work the bauxite. I need a 3mm minus size to use. Occasionally I get chunks that are softball size and larger. So… I backdrag the material with the loader bucket against the concrete floor. It sometimes takes the full weight of the loader to break a chunk of bauxite. The chunks are sometimes very beautiful inside. Part of my soul hates breaking suck a beautiful material up but it has to be done. This material will also flow like water when it’s pulverized into a powder. I’ve had 2000 pound large bags of bauxite that have been sitting upright for weeks… sometimes randomly fall over at the slightest touch because it flows so easily. I touched a bag of it very lightly one day and the bag flipped over so quickly that I didn’t have time to react. It fell onto my leg and pinned me until I could use a bar to pry the bag up enough to get out from under it. Bauxite is a very cool material tho. I love it.

For Darcy's law, if the pipe narrows at one of the ends, how do you get the area (A) for the equation if it's not constant? Do you just calculate the average of both ends?

@kennethbefus sphalerite is my favorite because I am an expert at locating and extracting very nice specimens that can actually be faceted. It is most abundant gemstone near me. Cleophane is my favorite variation of sphalerite. Mostly found in Bulgaria.

Do you have any videos that describe how massive non terminal alpha quartz forms? I'm interested in this specifically but im finding a lot about macro crystal formation (because thats what people find special about alpha quartz, understandably).
