I heard a theory that this song was last on MTV unplugged because Kurt was warning everyone about his future decision, which can be understood by reading lyrics of the song. I remember, when I saw this clip first time I didn't knew about this possibile meaning, but I noticed something in his look behind camera that he took before he screamed last "night through". He looked so sad and in a mind of something, so I decided to make a portrait of him in that moment. At that time it was kinda hard for me to picture particular emotion, so the drawing went kinda ok. But now, when I now the context of this performance, that MTV unplugged was last officially screened concert of the band, I kinda want to remake this portrait, probably on his birthday, sort of a jubilee, 30 years without the man...

There're many theories about the meaning. Some says it's a murder ballad of a girl who killed her abusive husband. There's also a version where the lyrics is changed to "Black girl" instead of "My girl". Kurt Cobain portrayed this song for his wife cause he felt that his wife was cheating on him at the time. But still to this time, nobody knows who wrote the original song.
