In California before the system goes online it has to go through several rounds of inspections on the state level. What state was this?

Theres a reason some insurance companies are starting to drop homeowners that have solar panels mounted on their roof. Go standing seam w/ mounts that dont penetrate the roof or forget the idea of solar.

Paying a rate for power that’s 30-50% less is always worth it. CA utilities have increase their prices by 50% the last three years and they are going to double in another three. Already been approved by the California public utilities commission.

I lease a Sunpower system that I pay $3k a year to save $1 k a year, foolish me for believing a Sunpower salesman
@josejose21002 ай бұрын
Yup. Never trust a salesman. My sunpower system loan is 130$ a month and every tru up pge cuts me a 400$ check for the extra energy I generate. I did my own math and research.

Good overview PVS6 so much more reliable when Ethernet connected (needs USB adapter as of approx Dec ‘22 h/w revision). Running an Ethernet cable is sometimes a hassle, other time really easy (as mine was), and much more secure. Really PVS6 should be indoors for security reasons as well (typically in garage, other side of wall from solar sub-panel ymmv) Beware installers not accurately recording panel serial number to actual roof placement, which can be relevant if shade (chimney, tree, etc) applies. I had this happen with SunPower employee installers, and took them 10 months to fix their mistake…

Im 53 and i would smoke that dude with 20+ years of experience and i can lay a square an hour or better hand nailing useing a 3 row nail stripper 😂 + you guys are sitting watching bet you all couldnt roof a dog house😂

The nail you consider low was actually the best placed one. Owens has a 3/4” lap of which is considered the “sweet spot”. This is the area where the two parts of the shingle is laminated together and the only spot where the nails should be. Most of the “sure nail” strip is above the double lamination. Nail a shingle on in “sure nail” strip and another in the double lamination and then pull them off, you’ll find out the double lamination nails are by far the superior hold.

Also, tethering the air hose to your tool bag with a clip so you only have 3 feet of hose between that and the nail gun. Along with that, don’t stretch to shoot the far right nail, shoot that one when you do the left nail that’s right in front of you instead. You’ll be much more accurate.

My system is similar, but I think mine is even better,my flashing piece has a built-in 1 1/4" round riser built on it and the lag bolt goes thru the center, and the U shape screws over the top, that can never leak. You actually have to unscrew the U top to get to the lag bolt to remove it. The panels are actually about 6" off the roof, better ventilation. 4.8 kw enphase grid tied w/sunpower premium panels, Installed Oct 2017, this system has consistently produced 5.5 Mw every year, 25 yr warranty top to bottom. If any of my panels drop more than 3% of there rated power in that time they have to replace it for free. I'm very happy so far.

But you're numbers are off a bit When you connect the panels to the grid or battery you can only get and use less than 20% of rated output It's called ohm's law Electricity is like water you must overcome the incoming voltage or pressure if you will Average line voltage is 240 and thanks to Enron maximum line voltage is 274 you only have 34 volts to push the electrons in the grid or battery amps Volt multiply by amps equals Watts. Check it out yourself be careful of course with avomwith amp clamp at the meter or output of inverter or battery Measure the volts and amps multiply the results and you will see the actual what's going in which will be less than 20%

So true. A reliable and ethical local installer, especially with in-depth roofing experience is so valuable I so wish I’d had someone other than local SunPower install team handle my system. Turned out to be a very poor experience with them not following their own process, or their design permit to my detriment, and then making false claims about it. Ugh.. fortunately I properly protected myself

Some roofers get the job and works few hours or a day and then sends few guys from " labour unlimited" or " work today - paid today" type of companies. Most of those guys have no experience. That happened with our town house of eight units. Second roofer did the band aid job with glue. Entire roof had to be done in next season.
