Folks don't take your vehicle through automatic car washes. This is what it does to your paint. I'm about to do this to my new to me 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude. It's not too bad but can use some improvement.

My Toyota Highlander 2013 just turn 100000k miles just a few days ago. I should have given a makeover as well. Still drives like it was new super quiet and very comfortable ride. I wonder how many hours it took you to give your Camry a well deserved makeover?

Nice video... I wouldn't be using those cheap stiff nylon brushes on paintwork though.
@HamptonsTouch2 ай бұрын
You’re right about the brushes, they’re not the best, and I definitely don’t use them 99% of the time, but there are occasions when there’s dirt building around trim and lettering that causes staining and won’t come out with a soft brush. I’ll only do it on white or silver vehicles, and never on vehicles with exceptionally good paint.

Great video. Awfully thorough cleanup. But I don't understand how you could spray wash the engine without covering its electrical parts first?
@HamptonsTouch3 ай бұрын
Everything is designed to get wet so long as you don’t force high pressure into the connectors or fuse boxes. Ensuring everything is tight is essential though, and getting too close with the pressure washer can cause water to leak past the seals, so staying back to the point that the water is just mist by the time is reaches the sensitive components helps too.

Hello, nice vid and attention to that car. Is it really needed to touch the car with the sandpaper? I think rotary polishing and then finishing with orbital is enough cutting for these medium scratches. Or it was because it ease up the polishing process so you dont have to polish as long? I would highly recommend protecting the seat rails with rags or other stuff when moving it. It can really fk up the finish with the scratches on a car from the rails. Good job :)
@HamptonsTouch4 ай бұрын
The biggest benefit of sanding is heat management. Instead of grinding down the paint with a rotary or DA and generating a bunch of heat, I can cut exactly enough clear coat to get to all these swirls, which this Jeep had plenty of, and then refine with the rotary and DA in following steps. This also saves a tremendous amount of time of having to revisit tight areas or swapping out polishers and pads to make sure each and every swirl mark and scratch was removed. In the end, the results from sanding will always be superior to the results of just using polishers.

@HamptonsTouch6 ай бұрын
You can get away with just a polish on light colored Toyotas because the paint is so soft, but if you want to get most of the defects out, you’ll need to compound the paint before polishing. And if you’re doing their white acrylic lacquer single stage paint, you’ll definitely need to compound first, but that’s not a paint type I’d recommend learning to paint correct on.

Now the question is will the owner maintain this coating properly?
@HamptonsTouch7 ай бұрын
I’ve maintained it for him, but the car has unfortunately gone back and forth to the dealership for a broken hood latch, where it sat outside for several weeks, then an employee of the owner gave it a dry wipe down with a microfiber and roughed the paint all up. So I had to do it a second time.
@tobiasdwumaah10987 ай бұрын
Stupid question but i thought you were never supposed to spray water under the hood only use wet cloth due to water getting in motherboard? I took my car detailing few years back and when I picked it up, it was in limp mode. Had to pay mechanics to dry the water out.
@HamptonsTouch7 ай бұрын
You can clean under the hood with water so long as you’re careful of how close you’re getting the pressure washer. The pressure will push the moisture past the seals of the electrical connectors if you’re too close, and it’s always best to look over everything to make sure all the connections are secure, and the fuse box is properly latched shut. There are some fuse boxes that have openings on the sides, so it’s best for cover them with a bag while cleaning.

Great work im only 12 minutes in but shouldn't you start interior first then exterior im not a professional or even close just wondering wouldn't it be more easier after you do the interior you dont have to go inside anymore rather than clean the exterior then doing the interior while slightly contaminating your work you just did but im sure you're going to wax but seems a lil backwards
@HamptonsTouch10 ай бұрын
Whether you start on exterior or interior is just personal preference. There’s no specific order to go in. I’d personally rather get the exterior cleaned so I can get the vehicle pulled inside. If I did the interior first then pulled it outside to wash it, there’s a chance dirt, dust, or pollen can blow into the vehicle while I’m cleaning out the door jambs, and I want to avoid having to re-vacuum and wipe down the interior. That’s just me though.

I don’t even think I have real carpet it’s like a trunk floor liner or like when you buy them big speakers back in the day for your trunk and they are wrapped with that fuzzy carpet looking stuff that’s what my floor reminds me of like so cheap compared to this guys .

Just got a 2021 Jeep GC. Do you worry about getting water in any of the electrical?
@HamptonsTouch Жыл бұрын
The most important thing about spraying down an engine bay is avoiding directly spraying critical electrical components like the fuse box and PCM. All electrical connections have seals to keep out moisture, so it’s alright to get them wet, but just be careful about the pressure you hit them with. That’s how water can get past the seals. I hold the wand as high as I can to reduce the pressure, as well as using a lower pressure nozzle. Also I don’t use a constant flow of water, I just do quick spurts of water to rinse away the suspended dirt and suds. And congratulations on your new vehicle!

what did you polish the glass with? regular polish wax works?
@HamptonsTouch Жыл бұрын
I used HD Speed by 3D on the glass. It has some wax in it you can leave behind for protection, or strip it and coat the glass. I like using it because it won’t leave white residue marks on the rubber trim.
