Damn, this breaks my heart. Hold on to those good memories you have of your friend. Wonderful of you to honor him with this beautiful tribute. You're a good friend.

Have to say, Smallies are my favorite fresh water fish. Especially river Smallmouth. I'll take them over Largemouth any day. Catching them on a flyrod, well, there's just nothing like it. They absolutely refuse to give up.
@screwedagain18 күн бұрын
Those holdovers look super healthy. I don't know what's going on with the hatchery trout. Maybe they were running low on Purina trout chow. Most of us would say that it was wrong for someone to plant those herring in there but, over time it's gonna grow some massive browns.

Do the herring reproduce in the pond?
@TroutSpankins10 ай бұрын
That’s a good question…not really sure.It seems like they have been,but not sure if it is sustainable.

I fished that pond a few times over the last 2 months. Caught a beautiful brown on a keitech with an underspin. The schools of herring were huge.

Interesting…I never thought to use the boot tail style swim baits,the herring are taking over the pond.

White and blue with sinking line would probably work great👍🎣
@Catch_and_Release_Angling10 ай бұрын
@@TroutSpankins I’m trying out the sinking line setup with game changers in central and western mass rivers and so far it’s not too bad casting them with a side to side motion using hauls like Blane Chocklett suggests for big flies. The browns like them but no rainbows yet. Shad colored game changers would probably be a good herring imitation for you on a 7-8wt with 3-5 ips sinking lines.
