I just purchased an ostrich egg from Pysanky USA but how do I start? I've read that I need to get the shiny part of the shell off before starting. Do you have any instructions on how to do that?

Lorrie, I have written an egg (with wax) and want to use alcohol inks on the egg. When I remove the wax to reveal the design, will the ink smear or run?

The Rhea egg is large like the Emu egg. Excellent for eating and baking. They produce during May through September/October.

Perfect! I obtained an ostrich egg shell and wanted to see how to prepare it for pysanka. It is so massive and shiny and I know that’s not conductive for dying it properly.
@Fiona22546 ай бұрын
I’m a new egg writer and appreciate the “add” because I really had a hard time finding supplies. I went ahead and bought that dye collection because I just love the idea of having all those colors and shades to play with.

I have guinea fowl and their eggs are like the bobtail quail eggs but bigger, about half the size of a chicken egg. I have chickens with a variety of chickens that lay eggs of every color. Blue, green, cream, dark brown and white. I also have ducks and their eggs are super smooth. I just started my pysanky journey and I’m exited to try with all of the colors available to me

Do you repair eggs for other people? i have an egg that has great sentimental value to me and it was crushed. with multiple cracks and broken pieces. i would love to see if there is someone that does this type of work for hire.
@LorriePopow Жыл бұрын
No, I don't do repairs, sorry. Linda Hupert shows us how it can be done.
@barbarah7422 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Lorrie for getting back to me. If you know of anyone else that may do the repairs, i am afraid that i do not have the patience or skills to restore it. i did watch the video above. Barb
@LorriePopow Жыл бұрын
Hi Bararah, I sent Linda Hupert a message, however at the time she is out of town and will return in a few days. She said, she'd need to see how much damage there is to your egg. And, you can contact her at, [email protected]. Hopefully, Linda can be of help.

How can I get an AlCraft lathe…I tried calling them on the phone that is on their website and it’s disconnected and you can’t seem to order one on their website. Does anyone have one to sell?
@LorriePopow Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been able to connect with Alcraft. I would suggest a search on egg lathes.

Hello what is the wax pen called that you are using? Thank you for the video
@LorriePopow Жыл бұрын
The pen is called a kistka. You can find the traditional kistka or the electric kistka by doing a search for kistka.

I purchased the lathe you show in the start of this video and the egg will not stay put because ONE side of the lathe will not stay in place. I find this very, very irritating and a waste of funds I despise losing eggs trying to use this thing.

Would a reptile egg make much of a difference
@LorriePopow Жыл бұрын
I don't know. I haven't held a reptile egg and don't know if it's like a chicken egg shell or more of the leathery type shells. However, I'd first find out if in my area it's allowed to use such eggs. I know there are many bird eggs that can't be used for such things.

I wonder if anyone makes these specific Easter eggs to tell the legend of the easter eggs in children's litergy?
@LorriePopow Жыл бұрын
There's Rechenka's Eggs by Patricia Polacco, and I'm sure there are others.
@misssiddle5023 Жыл бұрын
@@LorriePopow I must confess I don’t know that one, but I am familiar with the godly play legend of the Easter eggs (American episcopalian priest by training and author, Jerome Berryman). They take a Bible story from the crucifixion and cleverly mix it with the tradition of Easter eggs from Eastern Europe and they use Ukrainian Easter eggs in their resources. The story is very clever and very deep how it’s done. And that’s how I came onto KZbin channels to learn about how to make them to have my own resources.
@misssiddle5023 Жыл бұрын
I am writing my very first Ukrainian Easter egg. It's currently in its last (blue) colour dye. Then using candle and kitchen paper will melt away the wax. Not expecting perfection, it's still got the egg inside. Interesting hobby. I might now be able to tell the legend of the Easter eggs in church soon, or at least A legend.
