There was also foreshadowing that went nowhere like Naruto telling Sai why he's holding back on his confession to Sakura or him just outright telling Minato that Sakura is his girlfriend. Don't know what the hell Kishi's problem was when it came to Sakura but I'm glad to have moved on to other media with authors that do respect their heroine and not allow themselves to get bullied by incels on the Internet to change course.

Yes, so many hints and build up. I still remember that scene when Sai asks Naruto why he didn't tell Sakura his feelings and Naruto felt as if he couldn't yet because at that point he hadn't kept his promise he made to her (bringing Sasuke back). You would think this moment would have resolution when Sasuke did eventually return, but nope. It's forgotten, Naruto is made to suddenly not have any feelings for Sakura (despite literally telling his reanimated father on the battlefield that Sakura was kind of his girlfriend!) and fall in love with a character he barely interacted with or expressed any romantic feelings at all. I think Kishi caved to the pressure of Hinata's popularity and sequel bait with pairing every single character up. I often forget about the canon pairings of Naruto, I don't follow it or watch anything about it, I don't know what's going on and I don't care either. It's like good riddance.

@@AnbuPrincess Exactly. The story implied that Naruto would confess to Sakura at the end after she brought Sasuke back. Sakura would find out that he was the guy who complimented her forehead and like in the case of MinaKushi she would fall in love with him. Even the moment of the confession from Sakura to Naruto was not false and Kishimoto himself has clarified it several times. His still unresolved feelings for Sasuke don't erase his towards Naruto who were much stronger and more real, the lie was to say he no longer loves Sasuke and that he doesn't care about him anymore and since Naruto knows her well he knows that behind his words is hiding something that does not want to tell him. Same with chapter 662 titled "the real end" where we see the clear parallelism NS and SK. Regarding the popularity and heroine status yes, there are the interviews, it is a fact that he had thought of the NS but due to the popularity of Hinata, the continuous hatred towards Sakura and the pressure from her publishers Kishi has changed his plans. Regarding Boruto and the sequel, I don't even follow anything, the characters are no longer the same and none of them are really happy with their marriage. The novels are not enough to justify the development of a ship, that task was exclusively the original manga

Hey there! While I've largely moved on from any of the official Naruto stuff I've been having my fun writing my own fanfic as well. It's a bit relieving in a way being able to correct some things I felt were developed poorly. The world and concepts are very fun to write and play around with and come up with new stuff. In the end I think even if NaruSaku was canon, Kishi would have found some way to screw it up, so I think we've been sparred in that regard.

Being a multishipper is the best thing you can be with a show like this. You're happy no matter what happens lol.

In Kishi's interview after the ending he said he didn't pair Sakura with Naruto because she'd be a bad woman if she were to move on from Sasuke. So there's why. Mangaka has sexist ideals. It's why every single woman was paired up and made to be a passive housewife.

Yes, NaruHina relationship is so underdeveloped, it needed a whole cliche romance movie dedicated to erasing NaruSaku's bond and brainwashing Naruto to love Hinata. Whereas NaruSaku has pages of development in the manga.

Lol. The anime has exaggerated how much times Sakura actually punches Naruto compared to the manga. Not to mention it's obviously for comedic value, you see it in plenty of anime and some even more over the top.

I think Sakura's childhood obsession over Sasuke died down in Shippuden. She was more emotionally mature and was even willing to kill Sasuke for Naruto, just to end his suffering. The development was all there. Unfortunately in Kishi's own words, Sakura moving on from Sasuke makes her a bad woman lol. So when he decided to go with NaruHina, he increases Sakura's obsession with Sasuke again, even though it made absolutely no sense. In short, Kishi doesn't give a flying eff about his characters. Naruto ends up with a girl he barely interacted or showed romantic interest in just because Hinata was more popular. I hate authors that can't stick by the characters they created and let fans ruin their shit.

Yes but the people who ship narusaku ship for her too, we expected to see this girl mature because obviously she needed it and then start seeing him with an amazing man and realize that what they had was real love just needed an opening from her to have romance, but if it never happened it was better to stay with Hinata but honestly she is not very mature either. The only mature girls in this anime are Konan, Temari and Tsunade.

Naruto and Hinata doesn't make any sense , literally they got only 20 % screen time in entire Naruto with no proper development . SHE WAS JUST A STALKER ;now some will say because she was injured in pain arc , which led Naruto to transform into 9 tails , but he could have done that for anyone of his friends.
