Freighter has the right of way by law. The only vessel that freighter has to move or change direction for is a vessel not under command means a vessel which through some exceptional circumstances is unable to maneuver

There are shipping lanes and you were fishing in the lane. They cannot maneuver like your small fishing boat can. If they rammed you, you would be liable. There are designated shipping lanes and it’s your responsibility to know here they are.

No, they follow ship channels. You are fishing in the middle of one, it’s your job to move out of his way. You are fishing he is working

Totally agree Adam.. the barge captain clearly saw all the fishing boats miles ahead but continued to recklessly plow through the middle of all the boats with total disregard.. and no, this is not a shipping channel etc for the morons suggestions otherwise. He could have easily skirted the entire pack of boats on the outside with no issue. We were one of the boats out therewith you and couldn't agree more. Dangerous and uncalled for.

Didnt know u owned stupidity. Its common courtesy to go slow or around someone lines when u can clearly see them fishing…. No one owns the ocean but everyone can have common sense/manners You’ve probably never fished on a boat a day in your life.

I get that sometimes a big lake turns into a little area but as a CDL truck driver and boater/fisherman I tend to gladly give way to the the guy that's working for a living on that scale (freighters). I get that you are too but I wouldn't say it's the same. You'll be home tonight with your family. Him and his crew won't be. I wish your biggest problem was my biggest problem today.

It’s called. Big boat .. little boat. And sometimes it’s little tin boat weekenders I give way to on my charters off Frankfort just to keep my tackle fishing .. so you could call that little boat to bigger boat

The “ freighter” is limited in his ability to maneuver and looks like all the fishermen set up in the navigation “channel” and put yourselves in his way. Essentially you are playing in traffic

Where did you mount the smart troll 2 transducer on both of the boats? Curious about the enuendo Jupiter with the outboards? Are all the probes reading good?
