The vitriolic Viennese critic vilified Tchaikovsky's violin concerto by calling it: "...music that stinks to the ear." I wonder what he would have written about this concerto! Der bissige Wiener Kritiker verunglimpfte Tschaikowskys Violinkonzert mit den Worten: „...Musik, die ins Ohr stinkt.“ Ich frage mich, was er über dieses Konzert geschrieben hätte!

The Sinfonietta was not, as is stated above, the first orchestral work which Korngold orchestrated himself; that was the Schauspiel-Ouvertüre.

I had a season ticket to the Proms 2008 and was among the prommers standing in the auditorium. Proms 2008 also had a Stockhausen Day which i remember vividly.

35:42 "Forgive me, my friend, that I led thee to seem as mad as myself, making thee fall into the same error I myself fell into, that there were and still are knights-errant in this world." Brings me to tears each time I hear this finale. Just the most inspiring yet sorrow melody, especially when the entire orchestra joins in to resonate with the cello on the final line of melody. Also how the finale comes back to the main theme and ends with a grand amen makes me realize that life comes back around in a full circle. If there is a beginning, there must be an end, and everyone's end is always ever so humble. Thank you to all the great artists that participated in making this fantastic music! Much love to Jean Guihen Queyras! He is one of, if not the greatest cellists of our time!!

I wonder why this instrument is not more popular. It has a beautiful deep but present expressive tone and a depth and focus in the lower register of a much bigger instrument.

Mysterious. A new light on the Chaconne, as in darkness. Absurd. Like a comment, an emphasis. Unique. Speaking out of the box af 09:50. Great players. Will stay in my mind for a long time.

The associations I have with this symphony are some of the most precious in my life...as full of nostalgia and warmth as this charming and highly original idiom realized by Korngold at the tender age of 16. It is so underrated...sure it owes a debt to Strauss and Mahler, but there are so many elements of style, orchestration, rhythm that are so distinctive...and the content is just first rate.

Witzig, wie er in der fünften Minute den Rhythmus singend wiederholt und den Ton so gar nicht trifft, sogar maximal daneben, dass Orchester spielt ein f, er singt ein h😊

Beethoven's 8th and the lost "Happy Birthday/Beyond the Sea" movement. An excellent arrangement and a fun tribute. It's funny, looking at the way the orchestra is seated immediately told me this had to be in 2020.
