Lora Bliss 2h ago........, Don't talk bad about what you call: THE ROUGH COWBOY......., JOHN WAYNE. He was really a very GENTLE COWBOY......, who simply talked little rough ......., for the movies ONLY........, He was the MAIN TOP WESTERN COWBOY STAR FROM HOLLYWOOD for SEVERAL DECADES. He was well-loved by millions of people.

My uncle bore a strong resemblance to Joel Mc Crea, they were of the same era. I could so see Uncle Cliff (or my dad, for that matter) as the lovestruck young man in the street scene! Love that it reminds me they were young & full of it, too😽👏🫶. Miss them both immeasurably, love these movies that take me back to the kind of people who raised me!

Reginald Owen's loud laugh & shouty way of talking was a tad irksome. Well, at least I enjoyed the staged WWI theater production. Joel & Jean did better with "The More the Merrier." Fact.

"They hardly ever show it on TCM with all those great actors in it" - but they will show a depraved movie like Double Indemnity once a week. About a year ago I saw 'Our Town' (1940) on TCM. I never knew it existed, it was an incredibly moving movie, and I've been watching TCM for 30 years. I have a feeling there's a lot more wholesome movies out there then we ever thought.

I saw this years ago. It should be considered predictable and with a formula script. But it's not. It's just an amazing movie that makes you feel wonderful because of the three actors in this film. It's a jewel of a movie.

sorry, but he was, in fact, 6 foot 4 inches. he never claimed otherwise. I'd say that makes him plenty tall enough.

@@HenriHattar The most reliable record there is of his height says he was 5 ft 7 in. But other reports vary from 5'5" to 5'9". They had to use camera angle to make him appear taller. They did not have to do any of that for Wayne.

This movie was made during a time of innocent romance. I love how Jean offers Coburn a lift in the morning, then goes out to an already cramped VW-type beetle. Where would he fit? 😅 There are too many laughs to absorb. Thanks for uploading.

Not a Beetle, I'm afraid. Adolf Hitler and Ferdinand Porsche were still developing it. Volkswagen. The "people's car". This was a Fiat Topolino. Cute and rare at the time.

Jean Arthur was one of the best looking ladies in the Golden Era of Hollywood yet nobody puts her in the top 10 beautiful ladies. A natural beauty. Even in "Shane' she was beautiful in her 50's. Such a good actress. Low key but dynamic. I love these old B&W movies from the late '30's to the mid '50's.
