I'm still on the fence about if she should be singin that about another girl or possibly a boy?...lol...I couldn't care less about pronouns this is rock and roll. There are no pronouns in rock and roll. Consider "Stop Draggin My Heart Around" written by Petty and given to Stevie Nicks and gender adjusted. Love is a Long Road sounds more like something a guy would do to a girl. I still love the band though. I think they could go places with some original material. Just a "nobody's" humble opinion.

Great band. Nice vocals! The use of guitar as a replacement for the keyboard works for the intro and keys parts. But the guitar chords need to be played on an overdriven guitar, and it is quite simple in the standard position to get the exact sound of the original. Tom Petty's music will continue to be covered for years....even Mike Campbell is covering it all with his band, "The Dirty Knobs."

Your lead guitarist just showed me how to play this intro. Usually done on keys this staccato riff paired w the guitar power chords is what really drives this song. I used to think it was just some rhythmic piece in the key of B. But now I know the secret sauce. The chord changes- in particular the D string and the pinky- staying in tempo and rhythm w the other guitar are providing little triad chords of B, D, A and E. I’m just a novice player. But I love stumbling onto things like this. Tom Petty and Mike Campbell were an incredible team. Beth and her band certainly play this w great talent and conviction. Thank you!
