Is the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator the same part?
@fixitforjoshsake5 күн бұрын
@@DeeWhite-g1o no, the fuel filter is on the bottom of the fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator is the little tin can on the top of the fuel pump that the gas line connects to.
@DeeWhite-g1o4 күн бұрын
@fixitforjoshsake can that be replaced without buying new fuel pump
@fixitforjoshsake3 күн бұрын
@@DeeWhite-g1o the fuel filter at the bottom of the fuel pump isn't replacement I don't think. As for the fuel pressure regulator, that can be replaced, but it's $35 on eBay, and since a new fuel pump, with a new fuel pressure regulator attached is only $50 on eBay, I'd suggest replacing all of it at once

Excellent video. I am an experienced non-pro mechanic and it was helpful to watch the job being done before I tackle it. A safety point: It is not a good idea to strike the lock ring with a ferrous metal tool (screwdriver) in the presence of a highly flammable liquid (gasoline). Removal of the locking ring is more safely accomplished with a brass punch. Amazon sells a $16 purpose made tool that grips the ring and allows removal with a breaker bar. (Didn't work for me. Too much rust. Used the aforementioned brass punch.) Amazon also has the lock ring available for $16 so the old rusty one doesn't have to be reused. You seem like a really good guy and I very much appreciate you taking the time to film and post this!

I just put my 444 back together having trouble with governor spring it was missing when I got the machine and belt adjustment The three bolts , not having the split shaft I put a spare belt on the shaft . My onan motor was painted white I painted it black the onan green looks better. Send pic of your governor spring? If you have a magnet put rubber hose around it and about half inch above then it will pick up and not stick to the metal.

When I set mine on the same bike the manual says not to depress the spring loaded tips in the needles. Should be just resting on and not depressing. Checking with the carbs tilted at a 45 degree angle the floats will just rest on that needle without depressing the spring. Completely upside down will depress that spring and give a false reading.

Currently I have a 1983 GL1100 Goldwing I am working on, having some trouble with airfilter, its a K&N and looks exactly like yours just different colors obviously, and it would not fit for some reason. Although it was old we just dented the top since it was a few centimeters too high it would not seal with the rubber on the bottom. Just did that to be quick and figure out if bike runs (which it does). So now I'm trying to figure out why it didn't fit, and where to get the new rubber between the filter and the engine. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

@@jack17012 I've heard of people needing to put a pipe or cup the size of the outer center circle, maybe that's about 2.5", on the under side of the filter, and then setting a big socket on the top side. Then give that socket a wack a few times until the round recess is deep enough to seal like the stock filter does. I hope that helps for you!

@fixitforjoshsake8 ай бұрын
Hey David, I was really careful to color code and lable the wires, and in the end I did have to swop two wires to get the correct firing order. Those ballast resisters do get really hot! I clamp mine to the metal frame with metal house clamps to help dissipate the heat that they put off. I left all the stock wiring I could, but the points were pulled by the previous owner and a CDI was installed so some things are different on mine
