That’s a bummer to hear… I haven’t been on the bike back home since December. They were still in decent shape then… Dry conditions and folks skidding are detrimental in just about every trail system I’ve ridden from the SW to the PNW and back… When I do move back home, I’d definitely love to do some work parties on our trails and help maintain them… I know Fat Tire Society does a bit. But the trails can definitely use some more love all around

Cool video. I tried it for the first time yesterday. It's amazing what they built but I wonder why its so underutilized. Maybe it would help if they had good lighting in that area? I didn't see any big floodlights.
@Jbpuff762 жыл бұрын
Curious if your talking about this UW Video or the I5 Colonnade Video?? UW isn’t a Mountain Biking destination, so wouldn’t make sense for them to have floodlights. As for the Colonnade, all of the jumps and obstacles were built for more Intermediate to Advanced riders, without keeping in mind beginners. also the Colonnade was one of the first big Evergreen MtB Alliance projects, which led to Duthie, which is the perfect place for any skill level to learn and progress. Advanced Riders got tired of riding the same ol stuff, beginner riders couldn’t ride anything there, then the place gotten forgotten about, so there was no need to add floodlights to an unused area. However, Evergreen is working on getting funding and grants to improve the Colonnade and make it more beginner friendly. Supposed to be getting a paved pumptrack as well.
@jetli6262 жыл бұрын
@@Jbpuff76 Ah...my bad I meant to post this on the Colonnade video! But I hear you. Not super beginner friendly except for some small sections. Hopefully it keeps getting some attention.

Hey Puff, phil here from Albuquerque. Caught a few of your videos man. Since a lot of the high elevation stuff is done for the year, thinking of driving to Nambe one weekend to hit these trails. I usually do 10-13 miles, what trails do you recommend and which direction would make it worth the trip? Thanks man!
@Jbpuff762 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie, it’s a hell of a drive from ABQ for what it is… That being said, it’s one of the best spots in Northern NM for winter riding. You could easily put in 15-20 miles of XC here, maybe a little less if you don’t know the trail… even though Trailforks and MTB Project only show 1/3rd of the map, I highly suggest using one of those apps don’t get the basics of the trail. The main loop is only about 3 miles long. But there currently 4 trails that crisscross from the north to south side. Riding all 4 will get you to about 9 miles. The NE of the Main Loop has 4 mini “Ridge Rides” all 4 are super fun and dump you into an arroyo. Follow the tire tracks/trail back to the main loop… no real wrong way, but if you get mixed up in the arroyo and head West you’ll come out in Arroyo Seco. Just turn around and and follow the trail/tracks back to the main loop. Off the NW Corner of the Main Loop, which is my favorite for quick rides, is Richards, the Dump Loop(called North Arroyo Loop on the apps) and Castle Rock. Less exciting then the “mini ridge” rides, but super fun!! Especially Richards Ave, which is way funner downhill, but a fun climb up if you wanna climb it. If you want more after that, less traveled is the east side across the road. Equal parts Singletrack/double track. Best views in the entire area!!
@Jbpuff762 жыл бұрын
I grew up 10 minutes away in Chimayo, but I’m currently living in Seattle, otherwise I would gladly show you around the area. In case you didn’t wanna make the drive, you also have the ABQ Foothills, Placitas, White Mesa (gets really muddy at the bottom when it has been wet, Galisteo & La Tierra closer to you if your coming from ABQ. Both Low land trail networks. For the most part, if any of those have Snow, Nambe Badlands will as well. Good way to gauge if it’s worth it to go for you or not.
@2Philthy2 жыл бұрын
@Puff's World thanks for the info Puff. I've pretty much ridden all he stuff in and around Albuquerque. Lately with the snow it's mostly been Placitas, White Ridge and Foothills so sas checking go see what else is out there. One of these days I'll give it a try maybe make a trip out of it. If you come back in town, you gotta go back to Glorietta (saw your videos from there) and hit their new lines they made two. Chips and Salsa is insane, 10x better than Hole Mole although Holly Molly is always a good one minus that Snack Pack Climb. Lol. Climbing Cairn Me Up to Chips and Salsa is such a better climb and leaves you with the energy to do 2 rounds of up and down. Cheers man!! Thanks for the DL about Nambe. Didn't know it existed until I ran into this video.
@Jbpuff762 жыл бұрын
@@2Philthy I’ll be back home this fall for 2 weeks to a month, depending on work… Henry and Teddy have been putting some serious work at Glorieta, I’ll definitely be riding there… Chips n Salsa, Alamosa Vista, Lost Lake, Pajarito and the Caldera Crest Trail are all on my list to hit. Los Lake especially!! I’m always too out of shape, or visiting home at the wrong time. That’s my #1 trail to hit this year!!!
@2Philthy2 жыл бұрын
@Puff's World good to know some of those trails you listed man!! I'll keep those in mind when it's time to hit it hard again. They are making an extension to Challenge trail in the east part of Sandias, so instead of 4.2 miles down its gona be 10! Supposed to be open this summer, gona be awesome. My list of trails I haven't hit is 30 Acre Wood, Chili Dog, Jgged Axe at Glorietta (I usually stick to flow trails), the Winsor, Cedar Creek downhill in Ruidoso and shuttle the rim in cloudcroft. Hopefully I can fit all those in. Lol. Couple guys I work with might be making a trip to do the Whole Enchilada so we'll see what happens with that. . .
@screggybojanklin35672 жыл бұрын
Hey Puff's World, I'm not on trailforks, but see that you were riding Nambe a couple days ago. Is it dry enough to ride? Patchy snow? I'm hoping to go do vista view today. If not can you recommend a dryish trail? La Tierras maybe?
@Jbpuff762 жыл бұрын
I haven’t gone out since it snowed, but even then it was just a dusting, and I’d imagine it’s running great. Not as many shady spots like La Tierra. I’ve heard La Tierra is running, but muddy in spots, and the trash pit it is out of commission till it drys… As far as Nambe, the classic route is to figure 8 the Main West Loop ( basically riding the perimeter with the fast flowy Nambe DH is your middle trail… there’s 4 newer trails connecting the Fence line(South Perimeter) to the north Perimeter. Riding any of the 4 will be funner DH north to south, with some techy climbing going South to North… Off the North Perimeter towards the West side, where Vista View is, there is I believe 4 different Ridge trails. All are super fun and kick you out at the same arroyo, making it fairly easy to make your way back, and lap all 4 in a single ride. Continuing to the North East of the Main West Loop (the classic Perimeter), there’s 3 trails breaking off north, and this is where you’ll find Richards Ave, the Dump loop, Castle Rock, and a couple other mini loops… highly suggest riding down Richards, super fun!! This I believe is where the chance of seeing the most snow is… Once you’ve explored all that, there’s some fun trails with a gorgeous view on the other side of the road. I’d imagine, that would have to be another day though. That side can be its own day in it self
@Jbpuff762 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer to ride the Main west Loop (perimeter trail) CCW, warm up on the Dump Loop, climb up Richards, ride down the Nambe DH back to the fence line. Continue on the main west loop till I get to the ridges. Ride 2 or 3 of them. And then end with weather the Nambe DH->fence line back… or Richards->Castle Rock->main west loop CW back to parking. Wish I had some time to show you around, but I’m heading out of town today. Have fun out there!! It’s a blast
