Moving that Pollini is so appreciated over the world. Through him, the world is closer, I hope.

Lupu at the height of his career and the first year i heard him live...it changed my life forever Some of the sounds he produces should not be possible on a piano. Astonished to this day, as if i'm hearing every piece for the first time as it should be

Living from 1923 till 2023 Menahem Pressler is a witness of humanity, himself beeing a jewish refugee from Germany during the Second World War. His music teaches us that we are all brothers and sisters.

One Xmas in Venice I was on Giudecca, where Nono lived. The bells throughout Venice started ringing at what I presumed was the high point of the Mass (I am not a practicing Catholic). The apparent randomness others hear in the music was replicated in what actually was happening. Suddenly this piece came into focus for me. As much as this is Pollini’s piece, it is good to see there are now other performances available. We now need more recordings of Il canto sospeso.
Zimmermann is the best performer of Chopin and Beethoven. No one beat him...he is my favourite. I can stay hours and hours listening to him...

Surprising that he didn't make studio recordings of Mazurkas until later in his career. I always thought that maybe he didn't feel the abstract and often fragile ethereal dance rhythms of Mazurkas so suitable for his bright-eyed intellectual style, but how wrong I was! In a blind test already Pollini's so recognizable sound would have revealed the performer!

11:50 how fresh.. I wish there could be a studio recording of such pacing. A bit too simple - but here the piece is nonetheless insaaaaaaanely well stated for what it should deliver on.
