Hi, quick question (since I’m fron a country where it doesn’t snow) Im going to Norway, Tromso, specifically, in december, I’ve seen that the lowest temperature will be -15 celsius/ 5 Fahrenheit, will this jacket be the appropriate one for vacations? Going on tours, etc.. or should I get a bulkier one? Like the McMurdo? thanks in advance!!

Dan, have the Pioneer 109 190 2023 & hate it w/ a vengeance. Am an ole ski-bum w/ 5 pair of skis & do nothing but deep & steep & soft black/blue groomers. Bought the Pioneer 109 190 2023 (brown/purple) last Nov. Talked to one of the managers in Golden, CO who has them. He assured me to be great in the trees. The opposite is true. Very clunky & stiff in the trees. Am 6'4", 190 lbs. Hard time turning around the trees on ♦♦ Headwall in Solitude in knee deep. Worst in heavy deep crud - Feb at the Bird. Was thrown back. Hold edge OK on icy hard-pack - Alta in Dec. Over all unresponsive ski. Very well built. Have a look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKfHmXpmopufe9E

From you remarks about older K2 skis being soft, I don't think that you ever spent the day on the Apache Recon.

how much is worth it to avoid a leg ski injury ? I broke my tibia 40 years ago and I broke my achilles a month ago. Please, leave all of this to a technician. it's your health and safety we are talking about here. I wish I had not experienced any of those two injuries...... thanks for your video. regards. Pablo.

Great review. I own all of those jacket types and my favorite being the polartec 300 weight like the Denali jacket shown ( TNF. ) I can add that soft shells look warm but they are not. The fleece thickness is usually low.

Is this ski going to be inaccessible for a true intermediate and hold them back or will they be able to improve with it over time?
@skisdotcom
@skisdotcom 2 ай бұрын
as an intermediate, this ski will work out great and also give you the ability to grow into the ski, we have some on clearance right here skis.com/product/48505/dynastar-mens-m-free-90-skis Thanks for watching!

Hi, is it a lot stiffer than the 84 (that has no titanal) or does it keep the same soft feel and ability to change turns radius ?
@skisdotcom
@skisdotcom 2 ай бұрын
it is definitely going to be stiffer than the 84, it will hold a stronger edge through your turns if you like to ski a bit faster. It will still have some forgiveness in the tip and tail for stronger skiers to manipulate turn radius. Thanks for watching!

I'm just starting to learn to ski, and am a level 1 skier, and am now looking around to invest in my first ski boots after I've had a few lessons, so which Salomon boots do you recommend, I'm just about 5' 6" and am 166 pounds?
@skisdotcom

If you are looking for a comfortable easy entry Salomon boot that will give you some room for improvement I would look at these boots here skis.com/product/equipment-mens-boots/47778/salomon-qst-access-80-ski-boot-mens We do always recommend seeing a professional boot fitter to have your feet measured and evaluated. Thanks for reaching out!

can I test this some how on the slope if enough pressure applied. the din calculator says to set mine to 8 aggressive and 6.5 moderate. Can I go in between 7? Moderate would release faster?
@skisdotcom
@skisdotcom 2 ай бұрын
There is no easy way to truly test this while on the slope. We always recommend having a trained professional adjust and calibrate your skis with a mechanical testing machine to make sure your bindings are releasing at the correct value. The moderate setting will release your boot from the bindings quicker, the aggressive setting will take more force to release your boot. Thanks for reaching out!

Nope I love that we old timers actually know how to ski on straight skis and we get EXERCISE from knowing how to UNWEIGHT and turn via our perfected technique What they do today shuffling I don’t characterize as “skiing” If you want EXERCISE and don’t want to be typically FAT I suggest people learn how to ski straight skis which require skill mastery but hey we all did it and I still do it no problem and I don’t need any “technician” at a shop to set my DIN or release as I do it all myself on my 10 pairs of various length straight skis as I was a technician at a ski resort back in the 1970’s and 1980’s I have 2 pairs of shaped modern skis and I do NOT like them As I’m not going on the mountain to be LAZY shifting back and forth I prefer my straight skis I’m expert on them and I put young people to shame on the mountain as I fly past them doing jumps , moguls , deep powder you name it 😊
