I just bought this exact car used and this video was SO HELPFUL! I didn’t buy it from a Volvo dealership so they knew very little about the car’s features so this was a huge help in learning about my new car. Thank you!!!

Can’t believe W222 doesn’t have the wheel arches as on the W221…Those wheel arches REALLY made the W221 stand out…

The old body style at least to me looked classier and sexier. The old interior had an understated luxury feel to it and felt like it was put together well with top-quality materials again my humble opinion. The only thing this has over the old one is more tech but I can live without it especially the nanny big brother tech. The old one had enough tech for me and felt super solid in the doors and the car in general. Yes, the trunk motor is an improvement and the driver's screen that's it for me. More pluses in the old ones column for me easy W221 all the way. Newer is not always better and in many cases, newer means companies learn how to save money without customers noticing at first. They replaced metal parts with cheaper plastic parts. The W221 engine had much less plastic than the W222 so in the places that matter the W221 did not skimp to eke out an extra buck out of the customer's wallet. The 140 was the most solid and the 220 was nice but went too sporty and light feeling the 221 is a perfect blend of both and for many the best S class ever. The W222 is good but I just like the 221 more. The W223 is a disaster it has not grown on me. to me, it looks like the trailer park boys at a strip club with I pads glued on the tables look.. Very childish and tacky not classy at all. Exterior to plain looks like a big A class. They should have had an exterior more like the W221 with subtler fender fairs a combination of W221 and W222 interior and front end with even more presence then added another 4 inches to the wheelbase bigger trunk kept the buttons the same and kept the scroll wheel and volume location. Ergonomics were perfect in my opinion in both the W221 and W222 though the trunk opener on the W221 was on the armrest easier to get to than the W222 button which was lower on the door panel making you reach forward and down to get access to it another win for the W221! That would have been one hell of a car! The W223 we got even if I had the crazy money there asking would never buy it. Mercedes said to hell with our loyal customers and decided to not pay them respect after years of buying the S . They went and designed a car only people with no taste would love thinking of the car as only a computer with wheels. They forgot their customers have great taste which is why they bought S class in the first place. They relied on cheap tacky gimmicks to sell this car and changed things that were not broken that S class owners loved like buttons for the seats that move. They care about ride comfort first and foremost and tech comes second or third behind road presence and safety with performance important as well. I hope the next one goes back to something more like the W221. I will never sell mine always feel like a million after driving it. Even after my rant, the S class is still a nice car that could have been so much better if designed by a person with a refined taste not by a marketing guy or gal. The design is way too out there and way too look how techy I am something the 12-year-old kid in all of us likes but S-class owners are mature worldly people with vast life experiences. Mercedes's biggest failure in my opinion and I hope we can move on and forget this styling and design disaster.

Great review. I had a 2020 XE R dynamic back in the U.K. which was a great car. Curious do you have apple car play on the intouch pro. I had it on mine but not sure if it only came on later model years? Reason I ask is having moved to Atlanta I’ve brought a 2017 F Type and would like to get car play added and wondering if it can be done by adding a later model year in touch pro unit.
