I understand you are explaining it in a way that makes sense to you, but for a lot of us you may need to explain a lot of the steps in more depth. For example you just jot down equations. I understand they are from the lesson in the book, but a 2 second " this is this" may help a lot long with naming new variables. Along with that I didn't understand where the 4/5 came from in the summation of forces in the x direction. Was it trig? If so where is the trig function? Thank you!

Is the -8 minus 8 or actually -8? And if it is why is there no sign

Minus 8 is the same as negative 8 when it comes to signed numbers. It became positive due to the formula we used -b/2a where two negatives (or minus signs) make a positive (which we wrote with no sign).
