My available discographical data for this Salomea Kruszelnicka recording is a bit dated (1947) but it is from a trusted source -Roberto Bauer. He indicates that this earlier version of Boito's Mefistofele: L'altra notte - was recorded on Red G & T 23355 Warszawa - in 1903 - this being the earliest numbered G & T recording on the list. I can't believe the great fidelity. Amazingly, the sustained high notes are not totally distorted as one would expect - wow - what a voice she had - especially in 1903 aged 30-31. I need to revisit my 1902? [mx. 407z -Ao-z2] Victor issue [61078 "A" pressing] of her Tosca: Vissi d'arte. John R. Bolig;s Victor Red Seal Discography, vol. 1 offers a recording date of 1902 which agrees with kvnm1863's suggested date for contemporary G & T discs by Kruszelnicka shown below - I hope that this disc - the only disc Victor elected to issued in the U.S., later issued as 66005 - sounds even close to the sound heard on the Boito selection heard her. Bravo!

I remember Mr. Lynch and his wonderful family quite well. They lived in Valley Stream, Long Island, NY, next door to my grandparents, the McKenna's. They lost a child because the child was playing with a dry-cleaning plastic bag and I believe after this tragic accident, there was a law passed in New York that plastic bags had to have a warning printed on the bag regarding suffocation. My love and best wishes to the Lynch children. Your parents were kind and loving people.
