the way they rehearse music over and over again before going to the studios makes the live sound no different than the records

What I love about The Strokes is that they treat all their songs equally. From the hits to the deep cuts
@leemorejacqueline2 жыл бұрын
i love the strokes so so much but can we just take a moment to speak specifically about what an unassumingly beautiful guitarist nick valensi is? the strokes has the tightest guitars of any rock band of the past twenty years, so sometimes i forget ... nick is really the star 💜

I'm one of the people who think "Room on Fire", their second album, was their best. It's a perfect song cycle. It faced a lot of criticism when it came out for being "too similar" to the first record, but the critics missed the point - they perfected their sound on that second record - and the songs were a hell of a lot stronger, IMO.
@seancassidy6742 жыл бұрын
I like it at least as much as the first. Valensi's chorus guitar also feels like a nod to Television's Venus.

I love how they slowed it down cause of Julian's: "Yeah.... I drank homemade wine and ate clams on the beach with naked girls in Capri all day for a month and I've been in town for just about fifteen, oh, minutes now...." type of radioactive hangover vibes.

I remember Huey Morgan from the Fun loving criminals ripped the strokes to bits because they were rich upper-class. Schooled in Switzerland and were basically the elite. He was right but they’re still a great band.

man when I think of like the top 20 strokes songs, I never mention this song, but it's pretty much as good as any of their other songs. What a band

if you thought this was too slow, try listening to the song at 1.75 speed. The guitar riffs are ofc fast but Julian's voice still sounds the same. Its so cool

The strokes single handedly inspired a generation of rock bands that you still hear today, 20 years later. So fkn crazy.
@mr.anderson60403 жыл бұрын
Their influence on other bands is only trumped by that of the smashing pumpkins circa 1990s it's crazy how a band can influence so many others that then go on to be successful themselves..

@mr.anderson60403 жыл бұрын
@Gerardo Dibbert No, but let's be adults about this.. please give me an example of a fountain of Wayne song that you can say "The Strokes" are imitating and I will apologize and admit that I was wrong..to be honest I don't listen to any of their music so.. I could be wrong.
