I made this so fun! I’d skip the fondant and just do everything in buttercream same texture. I found that the buttercream would fall off the fondant.

Can the cake be displayed at room temperature or will the chocolate velvet texture melt?

The cake will be fine stored at room temperature. Try to avoid direct sunlight.

Thank you :-) Yes, ideally steam the flowers, which will give a matt finish. You can also glaze the flowers which will give a more shinny finish. Both will seal the colours

Couldn't you take the rest of the unused cake and mix it either with ganache or buttercream icing and make the arms and muzzle of the bear?
