ppl need to realize this is a song about ALEXANDRIA, It’s Sphene’s POV, sang with the people of Alexandria (Endless), and is not a song about Wuk Lamat.😅 The lyrics add so much to this song’s emotional impact, especially after completing MSQ. It’s about the fusion of Alexandria and Tuliyoall. "Fitting together this land we fend"😢

I love how this song sing about the perseverance of the Alexandrian. "In lightnings wake did naught but ash remain" but their still "ancient chorus sound beyond the blaze". They fought through the calamity of lightning, and lived on, and they passed their legacy on. Life stays strong.

This song could've been perfect. But something is not right. It's like a car. But there's something loose, some screws, I don't know. I feel like a little fixing and it would be one of ffxiv greatest song.

Really wanted to like this, but I just cant. Easily the worst song from all of ff14. Nothing against those that like it, but it's such a step down in quality from everything that came before.

The melody itself is extremely flexible, harmonically speaking, so they really can just sneak it into almost anything

Quotation and callbacks have always been a key part of final fantasy music across the series. Final Fantasy 8 soundtrack is fascinating in that nearly every single song in the entire game is quoting the main song (that plays during credits). Once I figured that out, I noticed that Final Fantasy 9 does the same thing. I've not studied the other ones as much to find all their references and quotations, but I'm sure they are there. FF14 seems to have a main theme for each expansion, and a large amount of music for each expansion quotes and references it extensively. It's not just the opening or closing interval. It's the entire thing. Dig in deep and you'll start to see it everywhere.

In my mind, the significance is super simple but effective. That perfect fifth marks a beginning. A new story or a new chapter of a story for our Warrior of Light to go down.

I believe the ARR jingles are loosely based on its trailer music, like the Myths of the Realm soundtrack.

This is possibly no coincidence. This can simply be a way to assocaite the brand/idea of XIV as a game to players, through music. Same thing with the prelude, or with Torn from the Heavens, which occasionally gets arranged and remixed over tracks on multiple expansions. These people are doing fine work, I say!

Fun fact: the original prelude was written in a major time crunch when the game director basically said “hey, we need a theme to go here, and you have 30 minutes to do it.”

I wish I could downvote this multiple times. This is the worst song in all of FFXIV, and it's genuinely insane to me that the development team listened to this and went "Yes, this is perfect" Wild. It sounds like a bunch of children doing a Lion King production for Vacation Bible School.

Yeah okay I hated this song and thought it sounded so corny during the game. But turns out it's actually really really good once I heard it in the credits in its entirety. it was way too lively and over-the-top for the scenes it was used it. But holy shit when you read the lyrics and just let yourself listen to it for what it is, it suddenly becomes one of the best themes in FFXIV history I think. I especially like that Tomorrow and Tomorrow reference at the very end

I fucking hate DT so far (just finished 99 trial), but I honestly dont mind this song. Dragonsong, it is not. But its pretty catchy and has the vibe of "togetherness" that I think the story is trying to go for. Of all the things prople complain about with DT, this song isnt one that I understand.

I wouldn't call the Athena one the Prelude. Just because an instrument is arpegiating a chord doesn't instantly = Prelude. The Prelude specifically has to be a "add 9" chord as that's what Uematsu wrote, not any random chord apreggio.
@Rides1283man
@Rides1283man 10 күн бұрын
I think you're right, I just relistened and I'm hearing 1 3 5 7 arpeggiating seventh chords. I didn't think Anatomy of Existence qualified for the same reason. Thanks for pointing this out I'd still like to clarify that Prelude is not an add9 chord, but rather the 2nd scale degree is used as a passing tone.
