Before they patched it out i would hide in scp 002, there would be a hole up top, to the left at one of the archs.

My favorite spot is behind the crate in 008 it always works and also great spot as ci for doing the 008 hack and if you time it right the hack can start as the cutscene begins so by the time the cutscenes done its halfway completed

Nah they know the 173 spot. A better spot is 079 where you place the hack, they never go in there.

The best and easiest location for me is Transformers. Ik that it is near spawn but nobody can know if you hide behind on of the generators, especially the generator behind near the vents wall. I hid there three times and easily won. Until today it works and you dont get infected automatically.
