Chapter 2 has a crash point at the beginning on PCSX2 1.7. You can get past it with the old 1.6 versions

Heads up - Flycast core in RetroArch can play NAOMI 2 games now, which includes Arcade Stages 1-3. I've been playing Ver. 2 and having a blast.

I don't think this was a popular enough game for Sony or Hudson to notice all the issues with it, so the compatibility never got fixed in the later console revisions of the PS2. I found out which consoles it works on though. Drift Champ only works on the SCPH-18000 models and earlier if it's a Japanese console. Or the 1st model of PS2 released in the US (SCPH-300xx) if you want to use something like swapmagic.

It's funny you stopped at chapter 2, there's only 3 chapters and the 2nd is where most of the content and the RPG elements (like in the prequels) come into play. I tried it myself but couldn't figure how to get past a certain point because of the menus. The only full playthrough of this game on this site is on a Japanese lad's channel but it skips some of the parts so you can't use it as a guide

I'm slowly making my way through Chapter 2, I've got up to being chased by a Corvette. A lot of trial of error, but I plan on beating the whole game and then making a huge analysis on this game. There's a lot of interesting stuff here.

110% understand. It's a huge reason why I've been on indefinite hiatus from twitch. Started to feel like I was spending so much energy and stress that could be spent on something more personally/emotionally fulfilling. Not feeling like I could sit down and just enjoy a game because I had to think about how it could be palatable to viewers. Feeling like even if I was burning the candle on both ends I had to keep going because if you aren't burning the candle at both ends you will disappear into obscurity. It sucks. All of us are still here though, KZbin/twitch or not. ❤
