A friend purchased a small coral atoll that had been strip mined, zero vegetation. There was an old resort on the island. He was selective on what was bought to the island (ie no plastic bottles). Composted the resorts paper, cardboard and food and human waste to created soil. Gradually replanted the island (now home to 500k seabirds none before). Replaced the diesel generators with solar. That solar system runs the resort, desalinates water, composts the waste. He did it to restore the environment while saving money.

Companies who dump the plastics like this, still don't want to understand that's the resource, like coal. All it needs is sorting, injection moulds and the new products can be made. And the base product is free. That's amazing. For example, I recycle used paper, by making briquettes. Free fuel for winter.
