There is just one mistake here, in that Henri Nouwen remained there at the L Arche Community in Canada for the rest of his life dedicating himself to the care of the disabled and did not go back to Harvard except for a lecture in which he rebuked the audience (many did not see it that way), for what he could see coming or even was prophesying of return of the Nazi mentality towards the disabled and all unwanteds/undesirables etc..... Fr John Dear has written some about Nouwen whom he corresponded with and would send him care packages when John was imprisoned due to his peace activist activities. Nouwen was a boy in Holland during WWll and would have to hide during the day from even his fellow citizens who supported the Nazis.

The story is used in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" (2012). It's used quite chillingly actually. There's also a second quote from. "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962) Stories make life bearable. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIHNnneff96tiacsi=Z7hl607OBNO2UY5l

Scandinavia is not happy at least not in the way they market themselves to the west, I have been to Norway and Denmark and witnessed it and there is also research and statistics to support this if you go looking for unbiased sources. The story being referred to is meant not to uphold but to criticize social homogeny scandinavian society. Scandinavia is ironically, is not a special region in terms of quality of living when comparing problems like mental health issues, drug use, abuse, and bigotry.

Interesting. In the Gospel of Thomas there is a saying. The Messiah said, bring me the stone the builders rejected, it is the cornerstone. 🤔.

I work at a casino. In my opinion, and based on feedback from guest surveys I provide excellent guest service. Additionally I am the only person on property who has done EVERY volunteer event, motivated other people to participate, etc....I work part time and this past year they added a part time employee of the month that they haven't had the last five-years I have been there. I have done A Lot and been a team player and didn't get it.....this went on for a year. Now I feel unappreciated, devalued....etc....I never called in and have called in twice now. I feel resentment when I look at the individuals selected because I have done all these things and really they have not done one extra thing. There was an event we went to a year ago and we took 47 people to volunteer...I also personally made these bags with extra supplies to help our staff be successful. I looked at the picture and counted 13 of those people that I talked into doing it. This year we went to the same thing. I said and did NOTHING EXTRA. We didn't even have fifteen people we needed and they PULLED PEOPLE AND PAID THEM TO GO....direct response to the disrespect they showed me. These programs can do more harm than good if not administered correctly.

I play oboe in a community orchestra. I am often asked the same question. My answer is "Tradition". People coming to a concert expect that little pre-performance tradition. These days, every player has a tuner app on their phone, so the oboe is not as important for tuning as it was in the 17th century. I use my tuner to make sure that my "A" is perfect.

I recently read about this and immediately had a few questions. At first glance this more efficient but in many cases the only way to know when you have examined 37% is to count every item which would inherently require a quick examination and in some cases a great deal of time. After that you do a closer examination while keeping track of the count until you reach 37%. In addition what if during the original count, one example stuck out? Would it not imprint on your mind leading you to continue past the 37% point until you reach that one? Really I’m asking for advice on how to learn more.

A lot of employers and managers have crazy expectations for new hires. Even if you can do the work and you're picking up on things, you have to account for idiot co-workers that don't like you or lack of good training were expecting you to learn everything in a very short period of time especially new programs which can sometimes be a bit complicated. Some places are better than others and actually give you the needed time and don't make you feel like an idiot when you have a question about something. Everyone learns at their own pace but some places just have unrealistic expectations of you. Or expect you to learn everything in a day. But I always think of that expression that Rome was not built in a day. It takes time and repetition to get things and certain employers simply don't have that patients they expect you to get everything in 2 seconds. So it's unrealistic.

Is this an ignorant AI narrating? He mispronounces everything from the subjeci's name to Polish, to any year with a zero in it... please hire a legitimate voiceover artist, or speak the article yourself. Otherwise you risk making your viewers feel disrespected, and your hard work looks cheap and foolish. PS the actual content was very interesting, so thank!!you!!
