I appreciate the creativity of your method and I especially appreciate that you avoided the common mistake of chaining the behavior in positive only training. A suggested alternative that is much faster, efficient and longer-lasting is... the moment the puppy nips, say no, stick your thumb in its mouth and firmly press down near the throat. 10 second fix that only has to be performed once or twice, that works and that lasts. It's a one session protocol instead of a 2-3 month protocol. No, it will not scar your puppy for life. No, it will not negatively affect your relationship with your puppy. It will actually strengthen your relationship as the puppy sees you more as a strong leader in much the same way that parents naturally correct their puppies for unacceptable behavior. I admit, it would make for a much shorter video.

Puppy Party is what we call it, we celebrate when our pup comes to us or goes to his kennel by himself. Treats and booty scratches. He is picking up on it.

The guy with the husky is ridiculous!! No warning just lets his dog out, doesn’t listen when respectfully asked to grab his dog, and obviously knows his dog doesn’t listen because he grabs treats to try to get his dog back inside, and his dog clearly doesn’t take him seriously and continues to not go with him. Owners like him are the reason people are nervous to walk their dogs and get set back in their own training. I don’t care if that pup was nice, he doesn’t know if the other dogs are nice and I’m sure he would’ve been upset and trying to place blame on the person with their dog on a leash if his puppy was injured because it runs up at a dog who is on a leash.

In a situation like this where a dog is very protective and aggressive how long does it take for them to see you as their protector? Especially if it’s a working breed like a Belgian malinois?

Would like to see the actual dog “aggression” in that dog before you start training. No offence, but I highly doubt that dog is dog AGGRESIVE. maybe dog “REACTIVE” but not very bad looking at that. Would like to see the behaviour that you are fixing (otherwise for viewers it becomes a little, unless there is evidence that dog is aggressive/reactive otherwise didn’t happen - looks like using a well behaved dog to teach a behaviour that it doesn’t have) How many sessions have you done with it?

10/11/24: I recently found a 4-month-old female Chihuahua/Jack Russel Terrier puppy I named Princess. She was apparently abandoned and left on my driveway. I have two multi-poos sisters, Mon Cheri and Snowball, ages 7, but Snowball is jealous of Princess and won’t come to me whenever Princess is in my space. (Mon Cheri, although she's cool with Princess, she's still feeling her out, but hasn't gone full-blow friendly with her yet.) The thing is, Snowball is very close to me and has ALWAYS followed me around, wants (and gets) my attention and affection, she’s so loveable, but lately she makes me feel as if she’s mad at me. She keeps her distance when I have Princess in my arms, and she won’t even come on the sofa if Princess has previously been there, or even lay in her own bed if Princess has been there before her. (I guess she can smell her scent.) She’ll only get on either after I’ve changed the sheets…WOW!! I give my pups love and attention all the time, but I’ve gone out my way these past several days to give Snowball plenty of “extra” love and attention, calling out her name a lot more, trying to play with her more than normal, but I can’t ignore Princess. She’s a baby and God only knows what she may have gone through before I found her. (OMG, she was SO frightened, hungry, dehydrated and balled up in a small corner of my driveway when I saw her outside my gate, poor baby.) Nevertheless, I have attempted to get them two together to give them both love simultaneously by stroking their backs, talking to them sweetly, kisses galore, trying to play with them in the backyard, etc., but Snowball squirms in her attempts to get away from the situation. She wants no part of me as long as Princess is around and, at times, she’ll growl when Princess attempts to approach her or me. (Boy, is she stubborn!) I initially posted everywhere to find Princess’s owner, but no one claimed her, so I took her to the vet to see if she were microchipped (No!), got her examined, Parvo shot, vitamins/food, etc. ‘cause I’ve decided to keep her, but I’ve GOT to find a way for Snowball to come around to bond with Princess, ‘cause she’s here to stay, but I have a feeling it's gonna take some time and a lot of effort on my part to bring these two together. I’m back and forth in my attempts to constantly please Snowball; Princess doesn’t know what’s going on, she’s just a happy-go-lucky pup who's thriving well, loving her new surroundings and is very attached to me; so loveable. Any suggestions, or am I doing anything wrong, ‘cause I, of course, want them both to be happy? WHEW!!

Why go through this whole process when you can simply touch the dog in the right way and calmly tell her no? Do you see how she will sit for the treat but then goes right back to barking? When you have no more treats, the barking will continue

Hello, please give me your thoughts if any. All of these situations are from week two for four since I have her. The first two weeks she was an angel doing anything bad.❤Situation one: I have two dogs, 3&6 years old and one month ago I rescued a chiachua, she was a stray, found, no claim so I took her in, approx six years old, not spayed but will be next week. Her issue today was one of my dogs was in bed as usual; I have like six dog beds. She came to her face and growled (sound of attack) near the neck like crazy; later in an hour my two dogs jumped on my bed as usual but she ( has a special look forward and ready to run) wanted to growl again at them and not letting them jump on my bed. I stopped her and told her to go to her bed, and my other two jumped on my bed. She went to her bed. ❤Situation two: she was at one corner on the couch and I was sitting in the middle and my dog jumped on another side of the couch. She jumped and started to run aggressively over me to my dog. I stopped her but it was scary. ❤Situation three: my husband came from work and all dogs met him, but that he was coming upstairs and she was not letting two of my dogs go upstairs with my husband. She got aggressive.❤ Situation four: she was rubbing her back on the carpet and my dog came to sniff her stomach. She jumped up like crazy and growled at my dog.❤Situation five: in the dog park when some dogs bark through the fence shared with big dogs, she runs to them, small, and gets aggressive but I am not sure why. She goes after barking any dog on her side near her very close to the dog's neck and makes an aggressive growling. It scares me. She is not aggressive to food or so. She seems doesn't know how play with dogs or toys. She is approx. six years old. She was found as a stray so not sure about her exact age. In general I have never had any issues like these with my two dogs that I have. They are 3(got from a shelter at 5 month old) & 6(got her at one year old), they not related and very good behaved to this new one that I have for a month so far. My both dogs are spayed, but she is not and will be next week so maybe that can be influenced? I stopped her bed behave all of these times screaming stop, but I am scared of she will do that at my dogs when I am not home as well what if the reply...Please let me know what should I do? Thank you very much!

What if you are working with a dog who loses his mind at a squirrel at any distance? He is very attentive as long as there is no squirrel. I've been trying to work this dog similarly as you, but he has such a low threshold (like as soon as it is in sight- lunging and screaming).

What is going to happen when there is no distraction, treat? In my opinion preventing a behavior is not stopping a behavior. The amount of time you would have to invest doing this method is not a realistic option. Cattle dogs need to be trained on and off, when to herd and when not to herd. Stopping natural instinct is short lived.

Appreciate the information. We didn’t start having issues with urinating in the house until our dog was fixed. A week before the surgery is when he started marking. Is the urinating in the house occurring because of the surgery? Also, he marked on a recliner and I’m wondering, is there something to remove the oder to prevent future markings, or should I trash the recliner? Thanks.

is it ok if my dog keeps laying down for this training? I've been asking him to sit and he does so I put the treat on my knee and then he tries to get the treat but then he gets frustrated and lays down and then he does really well at the focus part. He seems to be picking it up really quickly but he wont do it while sitting, he just keeps laying down.
