In a true fair matchup the location wouldn't favor either of them, and there would be no restrictions like "have to protect a village" (Gaara) and "not allowed to kill the opponent" (Deidara). Taking away the disadvantages from Gaara, but not from Deidara, does not a fair fight make.

First off. Gaara isn't at an advantage. He's at a very strong disadvantage. Just because they're at the sand village means nothin. Gaara can create sand out of the ground. He always has an unlimited amount. But he had to protect his village. He used up most of his chakra protecting it. Deidara used up all his clay and gaara could have killed him, but he used up the remainder of his powers to save the village. Id say, put their fight in a different location. @Auron1Roxas2 being a ninja means taking your opponents disadvantages and using it against them deidara would have still found a way to beat gaara its just that it was easier to do it if he fought him in his own village but if he were to fight gaara at his current power level theres no way deidara would manage
